Newark - who's camping?
Jasper - 7/6/04 at 09:10 AM

So - who's camping and who's bringing what?

I'm planning on coming in the BEC, so will have limited room for any extra's like gas powered bbq's etc.

I'll be camping.

Everybody who doesn't like football isn't it Chris? If you forget anything you could walk home and fetch it from there Hippy .
carry a copy of war and peace in me left hand .
If you can carry that in one hand I'm not going to fall out with you in a hurry, you must have hands like shovels.

Find me a copy and I'll try it...

Metal Hippy - 18/6/04 at 07:55 PM

Change of plan.

I'll be there both days, but not camping.

Sorry mate, forgot it. If anybody was there Saturday and saw a 6ft 5in geezer with a blue fleece, sunglasses, Akubra hat and wheeling a small noise machine in a buggy that was me. Good show, plenty to see and some rarities. There was a stand between Halls 1 & 2 with some miscellaneous stuff in it (Lincoln Continental, an original Ford Zephyr police car) and a tiny razor blade-fronted roller skate which I think was called an Adams? According to the bloke I got chatting to it was built in '69 as part of a competition to build the car with the lowest coefficient of drag and won (0.15!) but looked an absolute bugger to get into and out of. The car I was knocked out to see was one featured in a mag about 15 years ago. It was a one-off build called a Huntsman and used a supercharged Alfa 1.5 boxer motor and from nearly all angles looked superb, with only the Mk3 Escort rear lights marring it's lines. The designer/builder never intended to market it, mores the pity as it would have sold well I think. It was parked right at the back of the grassed area at the left side of hall 2 with a black tonneau cover on it and some coporate advertising for a karting company stuck on it's nose. If i've kept the mag I'll try & post some piccies.
Finally got to see Hicost's motor (all of it!) and just couldn't stop gaping at it It's ruddy obscene, having that much power in a seven (not that I'm jealous or anything). Good to see the owner there and on his feet after last years incident as well.

the cameras in hicost thingy made me chuckle, that car really is a tool and a half.

i nearly got flattened by a fella pushing a pram. might've been you i guess!
