Uxbridge show 17th July - who wants a ticket?
GeoffT - 11/4/11 at 08:57 AM

I need to think about ordering the tickets for the Uxbridge auto Show fairly soon, so need to know who's interested in going. The tickets are just a fiver which gets you a spot in the Locostbuilders club area for an excellent day out. Please note that turning up on the day will cost you £10 from this year.

So if you fancy going please let me know on this thread or u2u and I'll put you on the list. You can collect tickets at one of the Newlands Corner meets, or I can send them out to you if you cheque/paypal me.

So why not make the effort and come along? As regional shows go this one is definitely a 'biggie' with loads of trade stands, autojumbles, etc, and of course plenty of metalica to drool over..... Dead easy to get to also, just a stone's throw from the A40/M25 junction.

Geoff.

PS. Just to be clear, these tickets are for those who want to enter and display their pride and joy at the show - for 'normal' entry you'll need to buy an advance ticket on the website, or pay on the day.

Would love to go but 200 miles is a bit too far for me and the missus.

scudderfish - 11/4/11 at 10:39 AM

Me please! I'll paypal you the money. What email address should I send it to?

Regards,
Dave

Chippy - 11/4/11 at 01:30 PM

Hi Geoff, stick me down for one mate. Cheers Ray

bob - 11/4/11 at 04:13 PM

Sorry Geoff completely forgot on sunday, i had a fiver for you in my pocket.

Put me down for one, i'll bring the gazebo and tea making equipment.

GeoffT - 28/4/11 at 10:26 AM

Bit of a slow takeup for tickets this year, I notice a few of the normal 'regulars' haven't replied as yet.

I think that unless we get a few more names on the list we may be in danger of losing our pitch in future years, so please don't leave it to the last minute and remember it'll cost you double if you pay on the day.......

whitestu - 28/4/11 at 11:06 AM

I can't make it as we are moving house so my weekends will be filled by DIY for some time!

Stu

GeoffT - 16/5/11 at 08:19 AM

You must have earned enough DIY brownie points by now to get the day off Stu......

Will need to order tickets soon, anyone else up for it....?

Macbeast - 25/5/11 at 03:15 PM

I'll have a ticket please. ( and space for car on your pitch ? )

James - 25/5/11 at 03:35 PM

Dammit!

Having not been able to make it in 3/4 years I thought this might be the one!

Sadly, triple clash that day!

Invited to a stag do I was quite excited about. Sadly, all trumped by it being the British Savate Championships that day!

Normally, I might be able to miss an event as it was about league points and I have enough to miss one. This year, the championship is a 1-off event and the winners dictate the TeamGB places to fight in Italy at the Euros this year.

Sorry! Enjoy the fizzy tea!

Cheers,
James

robocog - 26/5/11 at 08:21 PM

If not too late...2 tickets wanted please :-)
Will have to make the effort to get to a meet between now and then

Whats the score with tin tops?...pay on the day only?
Mrs Cog and the Coglett(ess) will be coming along (assuming it 'pops' out before then)

Regards
Rob

GeoffT - 26/5/11 at 09:23 PM

Rob you have u2u.

Michael - 27/5/11 at 04:33 PM

Am i being stupid, but i have checked the Show's website too, but is the ticket for car and occupants or car and driver?

It will be my first show as plan to complete paint and registering car ready for 1st July.

GeoffT - 28/5/11 at 09:20 AM

I'm not sure if there's any hard and fast rule on this, I'm fairly sure in the past that if people have turned up in a seven with a passenger they just get waived through without any further charge. These sort of arrangements seem to be rather 'loose' at most of these shows.

Why not just 'suck it and see' - they're not going turn you away and the worst case is you'll get charged a bit extra for the passenger.....

Did you want a ticket btw?

Michael - 28/5/11 at 08:42 PM

Thanks Geoff.

At the moment i will leave it and see what happens, as you say you can still get in on the day if you pay £10.

Thanks

GeoffT - 4/6/11 at 08:25 AM

Ok, you're still welcome to use the Locostbuilders club pitch if you pay on the day.

I'm waiting for the tickets at the moment but when they arrive I'll post up the pitch number...

Michael - 5/6/11 at 04:06 PM

Thanks Geoff.

GeoffT - 13/6/11 at 09:36 AM

I've just received a letter from the show organisers confirming our club entry, but stating that entry passes and full details won't be sent out until a couple of weeks or so before the show date.

This unfortunately won't leave much time to hand out the tickets at Newlands meets, etc, so it'll probably be best to post them all on to you.

If the folks below could u2u me their addresses sometime it would save doing it in a rush nearer the time, if you're not on the list then I have your address already......

Chippy
Bob

Robocog

Cheers! Geoff.

robocog - 13/6/11 at 10:36 AM

U2U'd

To save on postage and hassles you could always send Chippy's here as well and I can get it to him

Regards
Rob

bob - 13/6/11 at 08:26 PM

U2U'd

I am pretty sure i still owe you a fiver Geoff.

GeoffT - 1/7/11 at 11:33 AM

Just a quick update, the passes, etc, have now arrived, I'll be putting them in the post later today so they should drop on your doormat over the next couple of days.

For those making their own arrangements we'll be on pitch C/01, there's usually plenty of space so you're welcome to come and join us.

Look forward to seeing you all there.....

Geoff.

scudderfish - 1/7/11 at 11:55 AM

I can't come now If you haven't posted mine yet, give it to someone else for free.

Regards,
Dave

GeoffT - 1/7/11 at 12:44 PM

Sorry Dave, they've just gone in the box. I'm sure if you offer it up on lcb you'll get a late taker for it.....

robocog - 2/7/11 at 09:35 AM

GeoffT - 16/7/11 at 10:05 AM

Just had to happen I suppose - been the driest period we've had for years but on the one weekend we need it to be on our side it decides to pi$$ down....

Current forecast looks not too bad for the middle part of the day, just an occasional light shower by the looks of it, so hopefully it won't put too many people off. I'd bring a brolly though..

theconrodkid - 16/7/11 at 10:51 AM

No No not the hairy bacon, that stuff looked very wrong mate.

Forecast is a bit better than it was a couple of days ago, i will bring the gazebo with wind deflecting thingys so we can boil a brew.

I would suggest people bring something to sit on and a cup/mug, any veggies coming i have a spare dispo barbq

theconrodkid - 16/7/11 at 04:20 PM

no hairy bacon to be seen i,m afraid i do have a bargain bucket BBQ pack from iceland tho

Humbug - 17/7/11 at 02:10 PM

Just got home after a wet M25 return journey. Nice to see Geoff, John and Bob and good to be able to use Bob's gazebo, windbreak and bbq.

Hope you got home fairy dry, Bob!

Cheers

Simon

bob - 17/7/11 at 02:36 PM

Spent a few minutes hiding under the first bridge i came to on the M25, then a very wet with extreme weather for the rest of the journey.

Home safely though.

Nice to catch up anyway, shame the rain kills enthusiasm but hey ho it is summer and it is England.

Hope everyone else managed to get home ok.

....no such luck unfortunately, Bob and myself managed to time our exit so we hit a monsoon-like rainstorm just as we got onto the M25. Bob has no hood and the last I saw of him was as he pulled off the carriageway to find some shelter under an overbridge.

I carried on but the carriageway was totally awash for several miles, all lane markings obliterated and a sea of spray in fairly heavy traffic, not what 888's were really designed for.... All a bit scary in a seven, especially when an ominous misfire set in just to compound the misery. Anyway, eventually got home safely, hope Bob made it back without too trouble as well...

Beat me to it Bob, glad you got home ok.

bob - 17/7/11 at 04:18 PM

No worries geoff, just glad you got home ok as well.

I'll just say it was a bit of a scarey drive with water on the inside of the screen too, also my glasses had to go as vision just got worst.

Was a lot better once i passed T5 exit and the idiots who didnt know where they were going.

I think i will drop back to fair weather driving to breakfast meets, whos up for breakfast at newlands next sunday ?

Macbeast - 17/7/11 at 04:21 PM

I made the right decision then

Sorry to wimp out but with no wet-weather gear .........

Chippy - 17/7/11 at 10:11 PM

I checked on this site this morning, and seeing the radar showing rain sweeping across, chickened out, even though I do have a hard top, (wimp). I just don't like skating in a car, :-) Cheers Ray
