So how was it?
for me,a total nightmare. rained hard all day, standing water everywhere, absolutely drenched, couldn't see out of my helmet and shagged wet tyres
meant an 'interesting day' i just was having no fun following people round at a pedestrian pace but everytime i got past someone and tried
to push,i just spun off
am trying to get some info on correct wet settings as the car is way to stiff to cope with those conditions, and as there was pretty much no damping
it was sliding everywhere!
still. at least i got some more seat time and realised how quickly these cars can bite you if you get it slightly wrong!
That sounds awful but brilliant at the same time, I know and feel your frustration at plodding around at a crappy pace... And when you try and push
it, it bites back lol
So what cars were handling pretty well in those conditions? FWD I presume, used to love my track Nova in wet conditions on Rainsports
i would say the 2x clio race cars were as fast as anything out there through the bends. nissan gtr probably fastest on the straights.
i have since had some advice on what to do with the suspension settings in the wet.so hopefully will try it out next time it rains!
First time out in the kitten in the wet so like Dan found it hard to get grip although again Dan was quicker than me. Sighting lap with swmbo in
passenger seat and I couldn't even keep up on the first laps slightest touch on the throttle and it was loosing traction. Backed the dampers
right off to be as soft as possible which made a huge difference as I could have almost caught an oap on a mobility scooter (I said almost). Also let
the tyre pressure down to 25psi ? all around on my ao48's which must have helped, but I couldn't really tell. To be fair I was shite, I had
to pull over to let everyone past as I was like a rolling road block.
I then did some laps with Howard the instructor for the day who helped quite a lot. My screen steamed up so was a bit of a guessing game on the two
right handers as only a small part in the centre of the screen was clear, but that was fine as mostly lefthanders. I did another few laps with
daughter in passenger seat which worked ok, but I found it hard and not much fun.
Packed up at dinner and came home as we were all soaked, but on reflection wish I had tried out a few different settings for the rear axle as all the
link bars are adjustable and I'm now thinking what if. Also wondered if I should have then increased the damping on the front to get a bit more
weight/grip in the rear as the car turns in perfect, wet, dry, hard or soft.
What a brilliant synopsis, great to read your experiences, and your honest opinions.
LOL at rolling road block, I know only too well how you feel.
Great to hear you had a good time, despite being slightly moist, I really wasn't feeling the trip up considering it was pissing down all day from
the moment I woke up, I hadn't booked on so it would have been a case of getting there around mid day in hope that they'd let me on
it was lethal!
Any vids???
i dont mate. but even if i did,id be to embarrassed to show them on a public forum. sliding round every corner and spinning off doesnt make good viewing!
My daughter has one on her phone, I will try to get it, and pop it on here. God it will be so embarrassingly slow. I got the/some data that goes with it, but it doesn't seem right as I think the gps has supplied the mph reading. We where doing just over 90mph on the straight as opposed to just over 100mph in the dry, but gps data didn't seem to get that right, its early days so not to bothered as its still in one piece and I didn't quite spin, not sure if anyone else lost It (DanMasonCough) but the atom lost it just after I let him past as did one of the scoobys. and a few others (DanMasonCough) lol.
Got a video, but it really is shockingly slow (by me) I'm not sure its worth seeing really. Then the windows steam up for the last two or three laps also. It was pretty wet!!!!!!!!
