sonic - 20/10/05 at 07:40 PM

Hi guy's

Who's going for a ride out to Elvington on saturday?
I read the entry list and theres a few on track, but i wondered if any are going to watch if the weathers good of coarse!

A few people asked me to post a thread on here to remind them it was on so here it is.

Cheers
Mick

im there, on track

Hellfire - 20/10/05 at 08:00 PM

We'll be there in the Indy. We now hopefully have a compliant exhaust can but won't know for sure until it's tested. Tried to book when we knew the can would be fitted but all places gone with about 9 in reserve

Hopefully, some won't make it there and a few will be kicked off for being too loud and we'll get an afternoon session on track

Fingers crossed.

if somebody wanted to sponsor me, or pay me on as a birthday present (check my profile) i'd be there on track too if there's a spare reserve place, but as i'm skint, i'll be going to watch as long as the sun shines.

fancy a ride up pat?
tom

mookaloid - 20/10/05 at 08:27 PM

me

Hellfire - 20/10/05 at 10:24 PM

Apparently there is now spectators price... it's £5/car. Just in case your partner likes to raid your wallet, like mine does!

Northy - 20/10/05 at 10:59 PM

Your having a f**king laugh!? Pay to stand and watch on a cold, windy airfield!

Is this right? I was provisionally booked, but never got my arse (or car) sorted and paid. Thought about coming through for a look, but won't if I have to pay....

According to one of the guys on here who booked in a block, you have to pay unless you turn up before 0900. They are stating extra facilites as the reason for charging... I'm going anyway but obviously don't agree with it as I'm a Yorkshireman - and I have a car full of little people to charge!!!

mookaloid - 21/10/05 at 09:46 AM

I don't wish to be negative, but the weather forecast looks a bit iffy at the moment...

Alright for the tintop drivers

Hellfire - 21/10/05 at 11:31 AM

So we might get on track afterall!!

jacko - 21/10/05 at 06:36 PM

Hi Guy's

Just looked on the Javelin website
Were does it say its a fiver to spectate?

Also if that is the case i think

Me
Jacko
Andy w
Tim windmill
and a mate of mine should be charging Javelin for the promotion photo they have used in the editorial and on their gallery section
We were only spectators parked together and i didnt give permission for them to use it!!!!!!!!

JoelP - 22/10/05 at 01:10 AM

rain is looking a little bleak, especially as i have no waterproofs but who cares! i couldnt sort out and decent dry tyres anyway! roll on rain.

pisser about the alleged spectator fee...

JoelP - 22/10/05 at 04:21 PM

and indeed it did roll on the rain.... absolute flood! at one point it felt like a lake with a few cones scattered about. I havent been that wet in quite some time (and i went swimming last week! )

cant believe how much fun it was! i also thought that they were a very reasonable bunch of people running it.

did anyone see my car expire?! fuel stavation on the start corner knackered the fuel pump, so it died at the end of the straight what a pisser, i had 25 litres in the van and had forgotten to fill it up! who was in the yellow 7 who ended up beside me?

fortunately i came in a recovery truck anyway, so it wasnt a problem.

Only one major spin, onto the grass (bent plate only) as i was just catching that green sierra in torrential rain. And my mate spun it on the first corner he ever tried driving in a 7 lol.

awesome day, i just cant imagine how much more fun it will be on a dry day with good tyres

Mad Dave - 22/10/05 at 05:06 PM

I managed 5 laps in the pi$$ing rain then aquaplaned into a 360 deg spin to the left then one to the right and couldn't get the car restarted At that speed I can't have caught the clutch fast enough as the starter motor is buggered, never mind

Hellfire - 22/10/05 at 05:09 PM

Ahh, so that was you Joel. You should have come and introduced yourself. For some reason I was looking for a Red Locost like the one in your avatar.

Must admit it was a good day even though it was pi$$ing down all morning. Indy just scraped through static noise test at 104.4Db.

Didn't fancy going on track at first but what the hell, I was pi$$ wet through anyway

JoelP - 22/10/05 at 05:44 PM

hi guys! i worked out who most of you were, and mookaloid pointed out the hellfire car, but it feels odd chatting to a bunch of strangers that you feel like you know, but dont! next time i'll try harder, though i guess the crimbo dinner will be first anyway - are there any trackdays elsewhere coming up? fella said that was it for elvington this year.

The red car in my avatar is only half finished, the blue one today was zilspeeds and brians old car went well actually, i was sure it would be bodywork or wishbones that went first!

chrisg - 23/10/05 at 10:44 AM

I was there all day Joel!

You could have come to see me, I wouldn't have charged you (much)

I didn't realise it was you either

Cheers

Chris

JoelP - 23/10/05 at 11:33 AM

i saw you and ducked, chris actually, was chatting to mookaloid as you walked past, but you missed me. Must have a forgettable face

chrisg - 23/10/05 at 01:43 PM

Joel who?

I was in a world of my own all day, sodding rain! Went for a spin (literally) with Tony later on but it was a bit of a bugger having the water going up the sleeve of my coat!

Lost my voice now, I know, probably not a bad thing.

Cheers

Chris
