What would you do if the weather was looking like it was a bit iffy - "predominantly showers" and you only had an aero screen/brooklands screen/wind deflector - i.e. no weather gear or windscreen

nick205 - 23/3/06 at 09:18 AM

you don't want to be sat home thinking about it when it turns out dry do you

smart51 - 23/3/06 at 09:20 AM

Look at the sky in the morning and think "sod it I'll go anyway"

Take a change of clothes in a carrier bag just in case

Tell everyone that light rain is all part of the fun

jos - 23/3/06 at 09:24 AM

I'll be going either way its just in what????

andyharding - 23/3/06 at 09:47 AM

Was pissing it down for my 1st SVA.

Just put a mac and some goggles on and I was fine.

Trying to figure out if your boxes will fit in the locost

Thats another reason for taking the tintop as I probably need to take a modified sump & at least 1 passenger with me and I think it will be cramped in the kitcar

richijenkin - 23/3/06 at 10:03 AM

We'll be going in the beasts as long as its not raining for the journey there. otherwise it'll be the tintop.
DAM WEATHER!!!!

DarrenW - 23/3/06 at 10:16 AM

Take the kit car regardless if you dont have too far to travel. Helmet and waterproofs will keep you OK for the travel. Some bin bags etc will keep seats dry when parked up. Sump can be placed in bag under passengers legs.

If i was going it is a long drive so would take tintop to keep fuel costs down. (55mpg in diesel vs 20mpg in kit would save me approx £40).

I have same thoughts for teessdide track day - going whatever the weather is in ZR.

richi, you'll be going nowhere unless the engine comes today hehe.
as long as its dry for the journy there i dont mind if it rains on the way back

richi - ox - when will you decide whether the kitcars come out to play - first thing saturday morning like me????

richijenkin - 23/3/06 at 11:15 AM

yeah, we'll still meet at the meeting place though, no matter which car.

Engine hasn't arrived yet......

Darth Blader - 23/3/06 at 01:16 PM

Have'nt got a windscreen or any wet weather gear...sod it if it's not raining when I set off.....I think I'll wear my helmet though. And maybe a cycling cape

Kissy - 23/3/06 at 01:46 PM

Man or Mouse?

Shall I pass the cheese?

jos - 23/3/06 at 02:16 PM

Yum yum, chedder

2 out of 3 mots have been in major rain, 1st one with brake bias set back to front complete with hail, i had puddle in my lap.

depends on distance, kit car + rain= danger. they can't see you, you can't accelerate unless you're in 4th gear. all in a crap journey.
I've no weather gear but i did buy a car cape from halfrauds and added a couple of extra bungee straps and hooks. it keeps the cockpit dry when it rains, and keeps nosy fingers out.
CHas.
