So, what did you think of Stoneleigh?
Alan B - 3/5/06 at 04:46 PM

Personally, and maybe controversially, I thought it was quite poor...

Bad points.
Weather...crap (OK not their fault)
Attendance...seemed low
Manufacturers...disappointed with the volume
Organisation.....not impressed

Good points.
One or two interesting new midi/supercars
Meeting a few locosters.
Lots of parts vendors

Am I being harsh, or fair?

graememk - 3/5/06 at 04:52 PM

bad points swmbo was bored so i had to go home at 3.

Hellfire - 3/5/06 at 05:04 PM

Alan, I guess it all depends on which day you went. We went on the Sunday and had a cracking day out. The place was packed, the weather was great and the company we were with, was even better

Phil

muzchap - 3/5/06 at 05:06 PM

Whats an SWMBO?

Tiger Super Six - 3/5/06 at 05:08 PM

She Who Must Be Obeyed - I asked that the other day!!

stevec - 3/5/06 at 05:11 PM

I went Sunday, thought it was good, Drooled over all the Indys, got all the fiddley bits I needed. Got there early and no que to get in, real pain to get out, Most worrying was the kids flying about on Quads.

Mr G - 3/5/06 at 05:20 PM

It was well below the normal standard on Monday, D- from me.

piddy - 3/5/06 at 05:44 PM

I was there all weekend.
Sunday was busier than normal,Monday was very quit.
I had a great weekend only spoilt by being in a tin top and the bloody weather.

ned - 3/5/06 at 06:09 PM

sunday busier by far. i was suprised by the absence of mac1 and the small size of the raw stand - 3 cars crammed onto the space looked bad imho, two with more room around them would have been better.

Of course luego weren't there who have been in previous years and i gather stuart taylor weren't there or did i miss that? (I saw the toniqr outside but the demo car looking very tired and dirty i thought - certainly ont show standard)

It is the same stuff (within reason) every year but still the best show by far and well worth going to.

Twas a shame about the weather though. Oh and I somehow managed to miss all the 'girls' on the relevant stands

Ned.

rusty nuts - 3/5/06 at 06:14 PM

I thought it was busier on the Sunday ,weather perhaps put a lot of people off . Also missed the dolly birds . The worst bit was waking up early sunday morning , I was sure that plane was landing in my tent!

Volvorsport - 3/5/06 at 06:26 PM

i got to see about 3 stands . mind you i was working !!

sunday was busiest .

Jasper - 3/5/06 at 06:30 PM

Beer and meat - I enjoyed myself

bob - 3/5/06 at 06:39 PM

I now think its better when your not there buying bits,i had a nice relax with plenty of beer and excellent company (apart from the snoring satuday night) and it was topped by the fantastic turnout of MK's on sunday.
I never thought i would see the day when 30 plus indy's turn up for a show.
Thanks for that lads it made my day

Is that meat as in Dolly Birds or BBQ? or both

rusty nuts - 3/5/06 at 06:55 PM

It wasn't you snoring then Bob? I had it in stereo

joolsmi16 - 3/5/06 at 06:59 PM

I had a 8 hour round trip, first show expected a lot more from the day however the lack of manufactures was made up by the hugh gathering of the clubs outside which made the journey worth while.

svenkev - 3/5/06 at 07:55 PM

i was there ,and it was the best show i ever seen Rescued attachment PICT0616.JPG

JoelP - 3/5/06 at 08:41 PM

i loved it myself, not quite enough on the autojumble side of things but thats not really what appears at shows. Darrens car was in that picture above

DavidM - 3/5/06 at 08:42 PM

Sunday was very busy, although there were less manufacturers than in previous years.
There were however more owner's cars of all descriptions in the club areas, than I've seen in previous years.

Although the MK's seem to have grabbed everyones attention on here, there was also an excellent turnout in the locost area.
Did anyone take any photo's? I got halfway to Stoneleigh before realising I'd forgotten my camera.

David

dave-69isit - 3/5/06 at 08:52 PM

sunday best day snoring came from the galaxy on locost stand sounded like thunder from out side

Lawnmower - 3/5/06 at 09:27 PM

only went monday,

thought is was a bit naff (when compared to Land Rover shows). Seemed to be a lot of empty space between stands, and the show did not seem to flow as I wandered about.

RazMan - 3/5/06 at 09:34 PM

High point was that BKLOCO and I found the Locost members area - no problem.
Low point was that there wasn't a soul there ...... so we wandered off again.

Idea for 2007 - lets all wear big hats with flashing lights on top so that we can identify each other as forum members

wilkingj - 3/5/06 at 10:18 PM

No... That was Snuggs Snoring

I thought it was a bit quiet. Still had a good time and met some locosters and Mk'ers
Had a good time, and even took some spare beer home that I didnt manage to drink, although I did run out of food

eeeee bloody hell - i have proof!!!!! Famous at last.

As Bob says its so much nicer going to the shows when you dont need to buy anything. I didnt really get anything out of shuffling around the trade stands (it was like doing an Ikea shuffle at times). It was so much nicer at the owners areas and chatting to people especially now im starting to recognise a few people. I was rather bowled over by just how friendly everyone is (apart from those that left me behind in the convoy!!!)

Even tho Newark is smaller i think i will get more from that show, especially as it is a shorter trip and ill only need 2 fuel stops.im really looking forward to seeing the owners cars when im not side tracked by the teething challenges. Somehow me thinks there is going to be an owners turn out war on for Newark. Well have to do a league table using the 'Total Kits sold:Owners at show' ratio.

Lets have all of the LCB sections represented at Newark.

nige - 4/5/06 at 11:44 AM

no need for flashing lights
just get a locost " t " shirt from rustynuts
there a great introducer , people know your off the forum and come and talk
we met a few on monday

dilley - 4/5/06 at 11:59 AM

I agree, I was there all weekend and although I recognised some cars I dont know the faces!
