The motorsport scociety at my uni have just finalised the date for the annual silverstone GP circuit.
Unfourtunately its a week day again, but it is a good chance to drive the GP circuit at a good cost. Last time it was £130 and should be similar this
time, but will confirm price when they have the details finalised.
Here is the info from them.
"Today I finalised the date for our Silverstone Trackday in 2007. The date will be Wednesday the 31st January 2007. This is the first wednesday
that most of us are back for uni, so hopefully everyone should be able to get their cars up to play!
Cars have to be under the noise limit 105db and be capable of passing either an MOT test or an MSA scrutineer. (Drivers of MSA cars need MSA
licenses).
The trackday will run in sessions of approx. 15-30 minutes (depending on numbers). This is because there is the possiblilty of one of the sessions
being for single seat, open wheeled racing cars, which cannot run on the same track as road cars. This may not sound like a long time, but on the
'06 trackday we held there a few of us (in sports cars - BMWs, Alfas etc) were suffering from brake fade after a 3 or 4 laps - remember that the
track is 3.2 miles long and has several large braking zones - the time will seem like more than enough when you're out there!
More info to follow when Silverstone send us the instructions and contracts!"
Last year they struggled to get enough people which was bad planning on their part really, so the event is open to all again. Last time there was a
few people from this forum out on track and was a good day. The cars range from Gallardos and Atoms, down to ebay bargain Xr2s and old 3 series.
Let me know if your interested.
