Northants/Oxon meet
DIY Si - 7/1/07 at 06:45 PM

Right, since the Xmas meet went a bit pear shaped, I thought it best we had a New Years meet at some point! How busy are people at the mo? I know Cheefy?martin is busy for a while, and Jud may have to jet off to the Caribbean or somewhere else warm and sunny , but how's everyone else fixed? Given the early closing in of the night, would people prefer a mid week or weekend meet? I'm thinking of the Green Man again for a nice central location.

Is that the green man at Lavendon?

DIY Si - 7/1/07 at 07:08 PM

Nope, just down (well north as it happens) the road from Silverstone. It's the PH in the middle of this map.

soggy 3 - 7/1/07 at 08:04 PM

I dont finish work till 8.30 in the week but its only a 15 min drive to the green man i could come along
We could have that beer then.

JUD - 7/1/07 at 08:56 PM

Si, as you know I am always up for a trip out!

Dan (Scutter) is sorting one for next week - check this thread http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=57836

Missed the Sunday outing as I had a bit on - long story which I can recount over a relaxing pint.

Green Man is fine for me. Only trip I have penciled at the moment is India in the 1st/2nd week of Feb for the Airshow there.

Bring the 205 so we can have a look at it.

Cheers

Martin

DIY Si - 7/1/07 at 10:05 PM

I would go to then one scutter's planing but it's bit far, and I think on a course in brum all week anyways.
Just to give people notice, how's about the last sunday of the month? The 28th? I may even have had time to fix mine by then too!

scutter - 7/1/07 at 10:19 PM

Si, The end of the month sounds good, doubt mine will be back together by then maybe end of Feb. Still doesn't stop us going out in the tintop.

I tell you having no power is now hampering the progress and you would believe how much rust can build up over 12000 miles, still no cracks found yet.

DIY Si - 7/1/07 at 10:28 PM

You not rid of that drain pipe cage yet? Looks ok for such mileage. Mine probably looks worse than that!
Oh, any preference on time of day? Lunchtime, afternoon or evening? I'll be damned if I'm getting up early on a Sunday!

scutter - 7/1/07 at 10:35 PM

No the cage is staying, turns out to be 3.2mm not 5.5 like I thought, found a left over piece in the barn. Lots of surface rust between panels even though they were painted.

A Sunday lunchtime pint's always nice, then i can make it home for the roast at 4

ATB Dan.

DIY Si - 7/1/07 at 10:39 PM

Good point that. Shall we say 12.30-1 o'clock (ish) ? Should give and all time to get home for tea. And me plenty of time to have a nice bacon butty before heading out!

Trev D - 8/1/07 at 07:30 PM

Sounds good to me see you there regards Trev.

paulf - 8/1/07 at 08:55 PM

I will most likely be able to make Sunday the 28th also, but will be working the following few weekends.
Paul.

JUD - 8/1/07 at 09:58 PM

Yup, should be good for the 28th. Ping a BTTT nearer the time to counter act my Alzheimer's.

Martin

Cheffy - 9/1/07 at 07:22 AM

Morning all,

Unlikely to be able to do Sunday, usual work story.

Catch you all next time hopefully.

Cheers, Mart.

DIY Si - 24/1/07 at 10:41 AM

Since Judd requested a reminder, now seemed like a good time. This Sunday (28th), 12.30 for 1 at the Green Man near Silverstone. Anyone extra wishing to join in, you're more than welcome. The more the merrier.

scutter - 24/1/07 at 11:15 AM

I'll have to pass thanks I'm on shift.

ATB Dan.

greggors84 - 24/1/07 at 03:04 PM

Still cant drive, so cant make it this month. Should be back on 2 leg and 4 wheels soon, so can make any feb meets.

Cheffy - 24/1/07 at 03:32 PM

Yep, definately working but should be better for midweek meets either at The Green Man or round Oxford from Feb onwards.

Cheers,

Mart.

DIY Si - 24/1/07 at 08:05 PM

So just me and Jud then?!
PS, don't take that as a bad thing Martin!

Trev D - 24/1/07 at 09:31 PM

Dont forget me then

DIY Si - 24/1/07 at 10:05 PM

Deepest apologies Sir! You coming in the shiny thing/ Chity?

Liam - 24/1/07 at 10:51 PM

Woah I never bother looking at this section of the site - didn't know there was so much going on sorta round my area!!

I'd love to pop along on sunday to say hello, only due to unfortunate elderly relative based bad news i'll not be able to make it. Is this a monthly thing then? Would be up for feb i'm sure.

Not that the beast will be quite finished...

Liam

DIY Si - 24/1/07 at 10:56 PM

It's monthly-ish! This is supposed to be our xmas meet!
Oh, sorry to hear about the elderly relative. I think we're aiming for a roughly end of month regular thing. Many of us work shifts so it varies a fair bit. Sometimes over this way (Green Man), or more out Oxford way, Sturdy's Castle I think. There's another meet near Wellingborough sorted out by JollyGreenGiant, and an Oxford one done by Scutter IIRC.

Liam - 24/1/07 at 11:18 PM

Cheers for the condolences. Been a sad and tiring day .

Sounds cool. Would be nice to blag an inspirational ride in a nice machine too . Got mates in oxford so there quite a bit, so either location suits me.

Will keep my eye on this forum section in future...

Liam

DIY Si - 24/1/07 at 11:25 PM

I think the meets are spread round the month, so there's a fair chance of catching at least one of them. Given nice weather and working cars there should be at least two at each meet. Me and Dan/Scutter are running fairly equal on breakdowns at meets though!

Liam - 24/1/07 at 11:33 PM

LOL!

Well i always carry jump leads and a few tools in the meggy!

DIY Si - 24/1/07 at 11:35 PM

Jump leads/battery chargers are my speciality, Scutter just goes for more general stuff!

scutter - 25/1/07 at 12:13 AM

Oi, I am about you know,

ATB Dan.

DIY Si - 25/1/07 at 12:20 AM

Well, it is true!
Actually, you're doing better on breakdowns than me! I've only managed one battery charge and some missing coolant so far.

scutter - 25/1/07 at 12:54 AM

Don't make work it out as breakdowns per mile.

I'll catch up with you all in Feb.

Dan.

jollygreengiant - 25/1/07 at 05:19 PM

Was thinking of coming along to this Sunday, however just realised would be double booked with a meal that the wife has already organised. So question is do I upset the wife & come to your bash or ..............................not.
In view of what is eventing within my house (M.I.L. related problems) I shall not upset wife.

Anyway Liam condolenses on your problems mate. Not a nice place to be.

Next meeting of the Northampton group will be on the 14th February at the Overstone Manor 7:30/8:00 on. Now then that date seems familiar for some reason, does anyone know of something else supposedly happening on the 14th February?

paulf - 25/1/07 at 10:13 PM

If the weather is good on Sunday i will try and get there.
Paul.

JUD - 26/1/07 at 08:28 PM

Ah the Alzheimer reminder. Cheers for the ping Si.

Should be there about 12:30. MK or Chav-Mobile depending on the weather. Beeb weather is saying sunny and 8 degrees - so no doubt it will be p1ssing down and howling a gale.

Martin

Cheffy - 27/1/07 at 07:27 AM

Morning Gents,

Liam,

Hopefully I'll be able to make the Feb meet. Would be good to meet up and compare notes as we're both going the 4x4 route.

Mart.
