Anybody up for go cart racing in the new year
escary - 15/12/03 at 07:19 PM

as the title states.
Anyone fancy a wee race?
Located in central scotland but can travel.
There is a good track in tranent. Outdoor as well as indoor.
Locations and ideas welcome.
Monies could be held at the track to confirm your place, i'm sure they wouldn't mind doing this.
So , get posting and we could have a huge locost meet.
Regards
Ewan.

andyps - 15/12/03 at 09:41 PM

I'll go in Yorkshire - provided I have any money left after tomorrows shopping trip!

tadltd - 15/12/03 at 11:36 PM

I would do it, but I feel it would be unfair on the rest of you seeing as 1st place would already be booked...

...but, if you like a (hopeless) challenge count me in!

Steve.

Mark H - 16/12/03 at 09:28 AM

yup, I'm in for a Yorkshire gocart blat. See it as a taster for locost track days when the car comes out in Spring!!

You organising, Joel?!

JoelP - 16/12/03 at 09:39 AM

bar humbug

yeah why not? i guess the chance of sorting a national championship out is slim so mayaswell do a yorkshire one!

new thread coming up...!

Ewan -n- co
I popped into Scotkart circut in Cambuslang this evening to get a handle on prices, they have a special offer running in January at both the Glasgow venues, Cambuslang/Clydebank 20 - 48 drivers £31.20pp for either the Grand prix or Le-Mans team endurance event. The Grand prix includes practise laps 5 heat races per driver, and the grand final for the top 8 drivers, trophies and sandwich platters. The Le - Mans includes practise laps 60/90/120 minute race depending on numbers, medal presentation, sandwich platters.
Anyone know prices or details for the other venues yet. They would require a minimum number for exclusive use of the track 20 + I think.
cheers
Shug.

JoelP - 16/12/03 at 07:13 PM

must be a bloody big circuit, the ones i've been to its usually the entire track to yourselves and no more than 8 at once!

Hugh Paterson - 16/12/03 at 11:59 PM

Joel, not sure never been on an indoor kart cct in my life only outdoors, might be an idea to do it before I pop my clogs, suspect its big enough for me to get a showing up, especially as tadltd thinks hes going to wipe the board with us.
Shug.

Break his legs before you race....

blueshift - 18/12/03 at 02:09 AM

The outdoor circuit at hoddesdon is pretty good, not sure if they do endurance race deals or whatever, but they have karts you can hire including 125cc rotax ones, 12hp or whatever they are, proper quick karts.

I used to race there when I was a kid, good circuit, but they're maybe more geared up to serious karters than people who want to turn up and have a go.

http://www.deavinsons.co.uk/ for the curious. They make karts there too, you might be able to get your roll bars bent while you're there, they will do machine shop work for money

Right so interest seems to be quite good so we need to know what your preferences are.

1. GP style one for glory and sod the rest
2. Le mans style, teambuilding and laughing at the running start to the carts as is associated with le mans.

Have done both and for laps and technique le mans is the one, but for playstation shove em out the way Gp is better.

That aside if we can interest some groups from elsewhere then they can form their teams, enter and have good laugh up here.

Possibly leading to us supporting them in (north please) englandshire.

I'd travel down for a meet with new faces and i'm sure that you guys out there would do the same.

For the record i'd prefer Le Mans as it's easier to arrange with a couple of team captains than 40 individuals.

Teams are usually 3 to 4 guys and scotcart has raced with ten carts at livingston, I'm sure that cambuslang would be similar.

Hugh Paterson - 18/12/03 at 08:45 PM

Ewan
Maybe we should have a straw poll, see who wants to turn up in Scotland and Grand prix or Le Mans style race day/nite. Im up for the Le mans team event, think I can put a Team of Desperados together to start the ball rolling. All who think they are the mutts nutts at karting, Dont you Steve
Shug and the Banzai warriors

macspeedy - 18/12/03 at 10:12 PM

I'm up for the le mans style carting, i should probably lose some excess beerige, though seems to always have been down fall in the past.

escary - 18/1/04 at 01:07 PM

i know it's been a while but maybe worth the wait.

i've priced for edurance racing

Racing carts at livingston 185 per four man team, 1/2 hour practise and 3 hour race.

Raceland at trannent 230 per four man team 1/2 practise and 2 1/2 hour race.

racing carts min 5 teams max 10

raceland min 10 teams max 30

to all those who attended the minimoto call me as i've also arranged on the 11th of april a cart endurance race with the larbert depot motorcycle club. Not with the loonies from the 633 squadron (of which I'm a member)

most dates are avail within a six week rolling time scale as are evening events.
