Storage space on Avon?
edfielduk - 21/6/11 at 09:23 PM

Hi All,

I'd be interested to find out if anyone has experimented with creating any storage space on their Avon? Perhaps behind the seats or on the passenger side.

Any feedback or photos of the finished result would be great to look at.

Many thanks, Ed

We put a boot box in behind the seats. Essentially - a sheet of aluminium across the back, with a rectangle cut in the middle. Left and right hand ends were folded down vertically. We made an oblong open top ali box which fits in that slot - this is secured by rivnuts to the ends of the hole. SO there's a boot box which sits over the fuel tank, but can be removed to get at the diff. The boot lid is an ali rectangle fitted with Dzus fasteners.
Will put some photos up if I get a chance.....

Hi Ed

Thanks again for your feedback on my posts.

That sounds very much like the sort of setup I was expecting. Sounds like it has worked well and would welcome any photos you have.

Best, Ed

could you not use "the gap" in the bonnet ?

Totally agree with Ed's comments.

A boot box is pretty handy and can hold alot.
I used to also squeeze some things under the scuttle on the passenger but still quite limied.

As for the "Gap in the Bonnet"..... very funny! however never had such a problem with mine, I guess its down to the individual builder...

Thanks, Ed
