This one is tempting
bi22le - 6/11/09 at 08:45 PM

As I have put the other cars Im looking at what about this one? The engine is a bit untidy but 192BHP is hard to ignore!

Thanks for your thoughts

192bhp... i doubt it but I admire him as a salesman.

k7 kicked out about 185bhp in the bike, but it wont have any ram air effect in the car which will be worth approx 10bhp.

MKs handle well enough, you could always Phone the lads at MK in the morning and ask about it if you need there number u2u me

tomgregory2000 - 6/11/09 at 09:06 PM

i was going to say that bhp is a little high, i would like to see a dyno printout to prove that bhp

JonnyS - 6/11/09 at 09:10 PM

Well this is my first post. It wasn't going to be here but hey ho. I'm actually picking up Richi Jenkin's MK Indy R1 tomorrow so I'll be posting properly soon enough

To give you some background, I've been out in this and a few other cars including a Sylva Striker with a blade engine weighing 380kg, Mac 1 blade, Richi's (my!) R1 and also an Mk Indy Busa. I also have a friend with a 500bhp Fiat Coupe and have been out in some quick cars in my time...

This GSXR powered MK Indy is frankly unbelievably quick and is like nothing I've ever been in. He reckons is weighs 400kg and like you say 192bhp. Frankly I'd believe him. 10,000rpm was enough, let alone the 14K it revs to

However I didn't buy it. PM for details

bi22le - 6/11/09 at 09:16 PM

My old car

<===

Was a GSXR K4 and that was 160BHP (133BHP at the wheels) and that was alot of fun. I dont know much about MK except what I read. They seem well liked and supported cars which is always a good sign.

JonnyS - 6/11/09 at 09:19 PM

This one just pulled VERY hard from 4k, unlike any other bike engined cars I've been in.

stuart_g - 6/11/09 at 09:50 PM

If you are looking at cars of that value, If you could stretch to a bit more I would go for one of the MNR's, they are a far better quality kit and a couple on there with very low mileage, one or two have been on there for a while now so maybe open to an offer.

Just my 2p.

D'oh, beat me to it!!

franky - 7/11/09 at 12:05 AM

192bhp....... only on a down hill dyno.

bi22le - 7/11/09 at 02:10 AM

thanks for all the replies. Validating the bhp is one of the many things on my list.

The release boss is different to my old one but i will still check it!

What do people know about retro fitting a full cage?

JonnyS - 7/11/09 at 07:17 AM

The 192bhp was when it was dyno'd on the bike. I know it'll be lower now that there's no ram-air effect but still it was hugely impressive in terms of speed.

As I said, if you're considering it I would STRONGLY recommend you u2u me for details...

BenB - 7/11/09 at 09:48 AM

Ram-air has a negligible effect at normal speeds. To get significant boost from it you need to be going 100mph+. The main thing the "Ram air" function does is feed cold air to the engine (which is always a good thing).

On a dyno you're not going to get the Ram-air effect and as Sevens have one of the worst drag co-efficients of all time, it will struggle to get up to a speed where the ram effect will be significant.

daniel mason - 7/11/09 at 10:10 AM

wheel BHP is the dyno figure you want. my mnr has 133 BHP at wheels just like your mac#1 and if suspension is set up correctly then power is not quite as important!
with the BEC cornering speed is where you get the advantage so big BHP isnt as easy to achieve with bike engines. around 130 bhp and under 450 kgs will give super quick performance

INDY BIRD - 7/11/09 at 10:27 AM

hi all

this one may be more tempting when i put it up for sale in the comming weeks,

i have 2 bec turbos so will prob sell the indy for a new winter project cec something special,

its a zx10r indy turbo,

284BHP @ 10psi and as set at currently 262BHP@8psi 222 @ wheels,

not for the faint harted as they say seriously quick car puts normal bec to shame,

kep an eye on piston heads for this one of a kind car or as carlsberg say probably the fasted indy out there as is 550bhp per ton

192 BHP is pretty easy to achieve from a GSXR 1k, my brothers race superbike made 220bhp without ram air (engine dyno), but did have quite a lot of money spent on it (10k )

bi22le - 7/11/09 at 03:11 PM

220BHP! Thats not so easy. Unless £10K is easy to find!

franky - 7/11/09 at 04:07 PM

I'd be wary of all these BHP claims..... the current 1000cc World superbikes make about 210bhp tops. You can make a dyno give you any results you want.

That's because the 220 bhp was too peaky, the BHP of current bikes has dropped as they have made them less peaky and more rideable.
