Quick question - rear view mirrors
aka Keith - 13/4/10 at 07:08 PM

Quick question if I may, are rear view mirrors required for an MOT?

I bought my car shortly after its SVA and it has passanger and driver side mirrors but no centre mirror.

It is coming up for its first MOT in the next couple of months, and I would hate to have it fail on something so simple.

Cheers
Craig

i think you need at least 2. either both door mirrors, or the centre mirror and passenger side mirror.

my bmw only has the centre one and the passenger side one and passed 2 mots. they told me it's legal as it still has two

hi, no as long as you can see the required view with the mirrors.

can not be certain what amount it is.

For MOT the requirement is you must have a drivers side mirror and one other.

You are required to have 2 x rear view mirrors, 1 to be on the o/s the other can be either intirior mounted or n/s

No. You need a driver's mirror and one other, either a RVM or a passenger-side mirror. There is no proscribed field of view test in an MOT.
