Solid discs or vented

Whats the general opinion on front discs.
Got 170 bhp k-series and want to do some sprinting / track days etc.
Like the idea of vents but are they a bit of overkill, obviously heavier.
Will be on willwoods

Solid, a 7 is too light to get heat into vented discs so they won't work as well.
Unsprung weight will be better with solids as you say.

Ditto, solid.

I had vented discs and sierra callipers.

Replaced them with Wilwoods and single discs (also drilled and grooved because I'm a tart).

It totally transformed the handling of the car. One of the best mods I ever made.

Done a few trackdays since the upgrade including Goodwood which is a fast circuit with very heavy braking from 130mph. I didn't get any fade at all.

Solid. No need for vented on a light, open wheeled car like a Seven. Just silly pimpin' bling to go grooved/vented....

Interstesting.
- What state where the m16's in beforehand? Pads?

dhutch,

They were changed only to reduce unsprung weight and what a difference. Where I had bump steer before it's now gone and the turn-in is so much sharper.

I went with the Wilwood Powerlites (Sierra) with the basic Smart pads.

They where in good condition before the Goodwood trackday and seam to have come out of it okay - much better than my Gaz Shocks
