I have been offered a diff from a Scorpio.
It has severel marks:
-FINI 1009416
-93BG-4200-AB

What type of diff is it and what is the diff ratio?

Thank you, but I can not find my codes in that link.

Most Scorpios ran an open diff as traction control was fitted
To test turn input shaft if both outputs move the same way its LSD
There is usually a metal tab off the top left cover bolt this has a code with ratio in
Last resort take cover off it written on the down wheel

The diff is still mounted on the car and the car is standing on the ground without wheels.
Before I decide to turn the car over and take away the diff I would like to know what the codes mean.
If the diff ratio isnīt around 3,62 I think I will leave it.
I canīt see the metal tab under the car for the moment.

or what is the 'Axle Code' on the cars VIN plate ?


it should be easy enough to work out even if you can't find the codes - if you can post some pic's of the diff it would make it easier for us to help you




the ratio will depend on the engine, but my guess is its most likley a 7.5" open diff with bolt-on driveshafts.

Its likely to be 7.5 inch. Most kits use the siera 7inch. Might be why the codes dont reveal anything.

IF you do get it, take the Drive-shafts AND hubs as well. The wheel Flanges will be 4 bolt with the same PCD as sierra, ALSO I found that the bolts that hold the CV joints/flanges together were a slightly larger diameter than the normal Sierra/Granada items. The one that I got off of a Scorpio (last production model) was a 3.38 diff.

Scorpio driveshafts are longer than sierra ones and if its a 24V the cv joints are 108mm not the normal 100mm as a 7" sierra diff
