WIDE!! pair of wheels
tony-devon - 14/4/11 at 11:00 AM

just thought it might be worth a try asking on here

Im looking for a pair of wheels, something in the region of 10j

Ideally I want to get the rear tyres up around the 325-335 wide area on my project, anyone suggest a possible UK supplier?

just realised I probably need wider than 10j

anyone know of a site online that lists the ideal wheel and tyre size pairing?

why do you need such big wheels and tyres?

tony-devon - 14/4/11 at 11:23 AM

thats just the look I like, this build is a bike based trike, so they are very much the focal point on such a minimal machine

found some 295-50-15 tyres locally that appear to be slightly larger dia overall than the current 235-40-18's on there, this is fine

but no idea what size rims you should fit a 295 wide tyre to?

for a 295 tyre you'll want around 11" wide rims IIRC, what centres, diameters & offsets are you intending to use?

tony-devon - 14/4/11 at 11:40 AM

online tyre calculator is telling me that I need 8.5" wide for a 295??

Im well lost LOL

currently got rear hubs to do ford 4 stud, ford 5 stud, and a set of ford 5 stud that I turned down to suit the bore of VW 5 stud wheels

adaptors etc arent really a problem

wide 15" rims arent easy to come by, looks like I might have to look at banding. hmmmm

If you don't mind spending a bit, 3 piece split rims can be built up
to just about any width and offset requirement.

like wadders said, if you're spending a bit of money anyway image wheels will make you pretty much anything in 3 piece split rim.

depending what stud pattern you want, America would be the place to look, i have 295's on 10J and they are a perfect fit, and from america you will get wheels for bugger all money, i only paid about £250 for a set of 4, 10j rear 8.5j front, and shipping to the uk is easy.
