Rear view mirror, flat or convex?
scoop - 15/7/11 at 02:18 PM

Hi, just looking to change my mirrors and have decided to go convex on side view but wondered if i needed it on the rear view as i thought i would be sitting there looking at myself and my passenger rather than whats on the road between us.
Your thoughts please.
Im looking at the F1 style in the rally design catalogue.
Cheers.

My old lexus had a very convex int. rear view mirror, whilst at first it seemed to make things appear smaller, it did give an excellent field of vision. it took a whle to get used to it, but it took longer to get back into using a standard one in my Volvo which has a fairly standard/flat int. mirror.

Buy a flat one! i fitted a convex one on mine and absolutely hate it! like you say, spend all the journey looking at me and an empty passenger seat and very little else! in all fairness unless you're going to put it on a 2ft post then they are pretty useless anyway.

Convex
I have a Lonacre and love it.
Saved my life many times.

Mine will be mounted on the scuttle and as others have confirmed what i thought would happen i have gone for flat.
Sorens, if i had a cage i would go for one of those racing mirrors. Maybe in the future
Cheers guys.
