Carbon fibre sheets
omega0684 - 7/5/09 at 02:29 PM

do any of you know of a carbon fibre supplier that could supply me with 2 panels, 4ft long, half a metre wide and 2mm thick, how much do you think it will cost?

carbon mods do a sheet of 2sq meters (slightly less actually, which is a bit cheeky, since they call it 2 square meters...) 2mm thick at £254...

not cheap would be my answer. i'm sure there's cheaper places than them, but i'd say thats a fair guide price

Hi There

Does it need to be carbon fibre sheet or would carbon fibre look material do.

I've just bought some 2mm sheets from carbuilder soloutions which look like the real thing

Anything solid carbon is going to be a mint unless its wetlay. Trust me, I know!!

Edited to say that anying that 'looks' like carbon will not look like carbon!!! Sorry but thats a fact.

No bud!

Mine arnt solid carbon as the cost was to prohibative. Also remember that carbon is brittle.

Best bet is a carbon face ply backed up with two plies of glass. Proper carbon look without the brittle aspect.

Fluke do what your after, (as above), in different thickness'. You dont really need 2mm for cockpit sides either,1mm- 1.5 is enough. Think mine are 1.5 due the weaves that we used at the time.

Thats the stuff i bought, was fine for what i'm using it for as i didn't want the expense of real carbon fibre for the boot lid

A mate of mine owns a carbon business, so I did some of the stuff, he did the harder components and that includes the rear arches as they are a biatch!!!!
