Im sure I wont get all the choices, but what general engine choice are you using?
I think you know which one most people will be using, as the car is based on a ford.
yeah, but if I knew then what I know now it would probably have been BEC i built..
however, next time...
Mark
I really wanted to use a Pug Mi16, but in the interest of sanity and actually getting a working car on the road in a reasonable time frame I'm
using the free Pinto that came with my Sierra donor car.
It will be interesting to see what choices people make when the trusty Sierra starts to become more scarce.
So Steve- you're winning then... 9 votes and none are k-series yet!
James
cmon James..... do you really think I posted this poll to hammer home the K series thing

ford 1300 for the mean time - after sva bec! bright it on
Ford 2.8 v6. Heavy lump of lard, but I'm keeping my eyes open for the TT kit!
Chris
mines a 2.4 litre V6 cologne heavy thing - but it goes with the style of my car.
The future may hold an upgrade to a 200hp cosworth version from a scorpio - once its on the friggin road!

Doesn't the cossie 24v V6 have comparatively huge top end that probably wont fit under your bonnet stephen?
Is it a quad cam unit or not?
[Edited on 6/4/04 by mackie]
The cossie will be a nightmare!! Its huge!! My ol'man had one and you can't go to a normal ford garage, you have to take it to a specialist to read the ecu etc, theres only about a dozen in the country!
Why not stick one of the 2.5l v6 duratec engines from the mondeo in there. Dad had a v6 mondeo estate and that went like stink, in a car half the
weight.......
175bhp or abouts.
Adam
2.1 pinto.....
I am using a 2litre fiat twin cam.Surprised no one else seems to be.

I have quite a tall bonnet, and it houses the std efi.... if its no taller, it will fit. Something to watch for tho.
Id settle for the current car working!

Only two 4AGE's, that suprises me, doesn't seem that long ago that everyone was planning to use one. Hell, I still would if I was going for
a car engine, cracking engine in my view.
Kingr
I had no idea 19% (so far) use bike engines! Other Japanese is only 4.3% so far! I bought a rx7 to use but I'm rethinking towards a bike
(r1).
good poll, Fletch.
Mazda Rotary me, 13b. Expecting approx 170bhp.
And I have to admit to biasing the poll! It keeps reverting to the question instead of the results! So far I'm two of the Other Japs, and one
Other! Apologies. However, I dont claim the K-series!
still none of the two people putting their hands up for K series........

And one is me.......
AFAIK the 4 age isnt that common in the UK and is likely to be found with a FWD gearbox. And T50 boxes are supposedly RARE.
Old sports cars (mr2 , mx5/miata) never go cheap unless a heap of rust, so that only really leaves MR2 mk1 rust buckets as a secondary source - but
then they still have wrong box unless you are going mid engined. Most kits are not.
Aus is a different story, they tend to be forced into them due to emissions rules.
when sierras are free, and many kits are based on them, there is a lot in the UK to discourage the use of 4AGE.

I ticked the K series!
My build will probably start off with the sierra DOHC engine from the donor, but I do intend to fit a K series - maybe initially if one comes along,
only thing then is that I will be more likely to end up with a Q plate which I don't want.
That makes you a K wanabee
I would honesly consider one if I coulda laid my hands on the necessary and felt like the gearbox hassles before I went V6
Still not an actual in the car admission yet ....
