Probably what gives mental illness its stigma

In the place where I last lived things like that happened all too often.
The papers would drop maybe five lines on page five in the bottom corner.....no one payed attention anymore
A good weekend in Soweto my policeman mate used to say was only 22 murders
In a world where murdering farmers is considered a good thing then when they starve ....do good whitey westerner will put an advert on the tv asking for dosh and they get food sent to them

Consider yourself lucky to live in Europe where stuff like this is rare............ there's places where life is all to cheap.
So what if fuel is expensive and its cold .....the likelyhood of real badness happening is way lower than in the undeveloped world. rant over

Sorry to be heading in the wrong direction, no offence intended.

scootz - 14/5/11 at 10:06 AM

I get pee'd off with the level of detail that the media goes into.

Why do we need to know that she was stabbed, then beheaded and then the assailant ran out to the street clutching her severed head by the hair?

Is it not enough just to simply report that a British woman was attacked in Tenerife by a mentally ill-man and she subsequently died of knife-wounds!?

JoelP - 14/5/11 at 02:54 PM

+1 to sccotz, the media revelled in the 'beheaded' headline.
