i have had a stage 2 head and a mild cam on a 2ltr pinto then put a brand new webber carb for 2lt the question is will it need rejetting as it wont run right

omega0684 - 8/4/09 at 08:18 PM

what webers, 40's,45's, 48's? what cam you running? single sidedraft or twin sidedraft?

rosey1 - 8/4/09 at 08:20 PM

sorry its a mild cam and the carb is a 32/36 dvga i think

omega0684 - 8/4/09 at 09:01 PM

you said mild cam but what cam is it, is it a kent cam,the fr31 is the mild road cam from kent cams or is it an fr32 fr33 fr34, etc? or is it a burton cam? do you have a make and model number etc

is the weber a down draft, twin choke carb, if it is it will more than likely be the 32/36 DGAV carb or are the carbs side draft?

Hi there

I used to run a webber twin choke 32/36 on my pinto which is a stage 3 with fr32 cam, as long as the carbs are jetted to suit the engine then you should be fine as mine used to run no problems.

Rgds

a quick up date on the car its been to its 2nd garage since the original guy did the engine work its had new jets in the carb and stiil no joy they seem to think its now timing somewhere along the line ive had it now its been 4 weeks thinking about selling or putting new engine in and putting it down to bad look

flak monkey - 18/4/09 at 05:33 PM

'wont run right' is too vague for us to help with your problem, need more detail....

rosey1 - 18/4/09 at 05:42 PM

runs on tick over revs kind of alright when its stood still then when under load it just dies take your foot off pedal and it ticks over again its a brand new carb the guy who built engine says who wont do any more and says engine is fine and blames carb fast road cars who i bought carb off says its the right carb and sent me another one out in case so took it to another garage they say its down to timing but nothing will match up so dont now what else to do or to take it to

flak monkey - 18/4/09 at 07:01 PM

Could be faulty ignition or bad timing set up. Should be set to 8deg advance on a std dizzy with your cam.

Either that or its not getting enough fuel to feed it under power, worth checking your fuel feed is clear.

Rest assured there wont be much wrong with it.

Where are you, sure someone local to you can pop over and have a look.
