I've had a 1600 xflow lying around a while and I think it's about time I got the old man something to do.
I always intended having an unleaded conversion done but whilst it's stripped is it worth doing anything else to? I know how far it could be
taken (although it's not a 711) but should we do anything else at this time? also what should I expect an unleaded conversion to cost?
ta
wast of money on the unleaded ,just but a fuel cat.
before spending a penny strip it down and have a good look at the wear on evrything as it may not be wort the bother.
I'll second that about not bothering with the unleaded conversion, those fuel cats are brilliant, cost me £40 and last for 200,000miles
apparently! and the company is insured for damages of your engine if it doesn't work! I took my engine out to have the valve seats replaced and
then found out about them, so I just painted it a pretty colour seeing as it was out!
Alex.
Why did nobody mention these things before I spent £200+ on my cylinder head?
because they're similar to snake oil??
any one know were I can read more about these fuel cats its the first time I have come across them it would be better than putting the supliment in every tank?
They are total snake oil. The only thing they are good for is lightening the wallets of those buying and making the con artists that sell them
richer.
In a kit car where anual milage is usualy very low, using unleaded fuel on an engine with out hardened valve seats will take quite a while to start
noticeable valve seat recesession, so these silly intank or inline catalysts may appear to be working, but inevitably they are not.
Save your money, and either get hardened inserts fitted or live with the fact that you may need a new cylinder head in a few years time.

Thanks I think I will stick to the supplement
But I do have some magic beans I can swap for a new Zetec engine
