N.E Events, drives etc???

Heading up to Northumberland for a week starting Friday. Anyone know of any events/venues worth going to please?
Half tempted to put the car on the trailer and haul it up for a wellie across the moors if the weather looks OK.
Any suggestions for decent route starting on the coast near Embleton?
Thought about Alnwick - Rothbury - B6342 to Rothley Lakes - Elsdon to Carter Bar?
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers, Pewe

There will be the NE7ER's meet at the Church Mouse on the last Wednesday of the month (30th Sept).

The blat you have described takes in some canny roads.

I'd be tempted to push on to the greatest driving road in the Borders (IMHO). Selkirk - Etterick Valley - Langholm. From there bob over to Newcastleton - Kielder and then Bellingham, Otterburn and back to the coast.

Thanks for that guys.
Now sitting gnashing my teeth about Teeside - meant to be taking over the cottage on Friday - can we do the day then still make the key pick-up afterwards?

Mike link for NE7ers doesn't want to open.
Is the Church Mouse Chester-le-Street and what time please?

Cheers, Pewe

It's a 2 hr drive from Teesside to Alnwick, maybe a bit more depending on what time you leave the track. Leave at 3pm get to the cottage at 5pm. Leave at 4.30pm and you'll get stuck in traffic in Boro, Sunderland and at the Tyne Tunnel.

I've updated the link for the NE7ER's, the .org ran out, so we've gone back to .co.uk for some reason.

The Church Mouse is on the A167 between Chester-le-Street and Durham. People are usually there from about 7pm onwards. I'll be late this week as I'm in London for the day, so I don't get back into Newcastle until 7pm.

Cheers

Mike

Well as you prob gather didn't make the track-day or the Church Mouse.

Trailer tyre exploded whilst we were going around the Western By-pass in the eve. rush hour (had stopped numerous times to investigate vibration on the trailer but couldn't find out why). Think the tread had been de-laminating for some time as recently had the bearings on that stub disintegrate whilst attempting to transport AkaKeith's MK up to Malton.
BTW Alnwick Tyres did a good job and competitive price on a replacement on the Monday.

Set off in the F27 for East Fortune and/or Duns on the Sunday but only got as far as Berwick before finding out the bl**dy thing wouldn't re-start! Collared a local kid on a moped to give us a push-start and wended our way back non-stop via Wooler - nice roads or what?
Cleaned all the starter circuitry on the Wed but didn't feel confident enough to drop down to Chester-le-Street.
Just as well as on Thurs we went out in it again to see a mate and it just about kicked over when we went to return to the cottage.
Pulled the (Escort) ignition switch apart when I got back over the weekend to find the internal contacts were all but covered in thick, green verdigree deposit. Now nice and clean and ready to re-fit.

Not as much driving up there as we'd have liked but can't wait to do the Etterick/Eskdalemuir run next year.

Hope to meet you guys then.
Cheers, Pewe
