I wouldnt bother with a rwyb event, the place will be awash with irritating spotty 17 year olds in their Novas, smoking joints.
However if its a proper race event you go to, ie with a mix of car & bike classes , its imho a good day out.
Crap facilities, but adequate, burger vans, netty etc
a deck chair is a bonus if the weather is good, sitting on the grass watching the cars is top notch.
open pitlane to get among the cars and bikes, the odd crash, the odd engine letting go..

Hillbilly racing at its finest, I love York raceway, it's always a good day out, basic facilities, run on a shoe string by a dedicated bunch
of enthusiasts, lots of noise and the smell of burning rubber....whats not to like !

Hillbilly racing at its finest,
Funnily enough I've always had a good time there!
As said basic, rough & ready but good enough to do the job.
I went for some years on the trot every Easter monday to race my Mini in a Minis v Beetles event, met some great folk & despite the VW crowd
having a bit of a reputation for turning their nose up at anything else I found little of that. There was usually a few other "proper"
drag classes running plus open RWYB & folk from all crowds in the main mixed well.
Open RWYB classes did bring a bit of a chav element but also some real petrolheads in a wide variety of motors.
Take you helmet & license, if there's a RWYB class on you might want a go!
