Scottish Trackdays?
I plan to enter a trackday sometime this spring/summer to prepare for entering my first competitive sprint event. Can someone recommend a good circuit
and event that would allow a novice driver to practice?
The further north the better as we will be trailering our cars from the extreme north of Scotland.
Any advice or recommendations appreciated. I have looked at the Knockhill website, but there must be many other tracks that are suitable?
Any event schedules/costs etc appreciated.

Crail, in Fife. They do a lot of hot hatch/track days & usually have one or two Seven type cars turn up. Mostly Westies & Caterhams.

you can hire the track at alford (sorint track as well) on some weekday mornings IIRC but to be honest its quite a short track and it's probably
the farthest north to you anyway. Unless you can get on to golspie go kart track.

Oh fotgot to add that they prolly only allow one cer on at a time for safety.
As an after thought there used to be bike and car days at edzell air field besides Brechin and we once did a shake down there with 3 hotrods and an F2
its a huge place (ex american airbase with runways)a bit like the Milton stages at Elgin ( dunno if you've been). When i first saw it I thought
ot was a right waste of good tarmac.

There's also a small track at crimmond but I dunno if it still operates as it's been a few years since i've been.

Yep track at Crimond operates every second Sunday for stockcar racing. But I've never heard of it being open other than that. Some of my
mate's have been trying to get on there with there mini motos but have not been lucky yet. The trouble is the track is not owned by the club
only leased and there are stipulations etc. There is also a kart track at boyndie but I doubt you'll get on there either.
If it's a track day you've set your mind on then Knockhill is really the only one in Scotland I'm afraid.

They do days on Banff airstrip....really good last time I was there, but it was organised by the uni. If your interested I can try and find out some
more info...If you decide to go ahead I'd be interested in taking mine down aswell....Oli.

Not much use to you northern types, but.....
Here in the central belt we have both Kames and Forrestburn. Both tracks are run by clubs who allow varying degrees of use for club members.
I am, of course, a member of the relevant clubs. :-)
Join you local club - it will be full of existing competitors. They will know how to go about all of this and give you all of the correct advice.
That's what I did.
