TOL

I just saw a post on TOL that made me chuckle when I read it and immediatley though of Hicost........

"I doubt anything over 300hp would be driveable in a Seven style car!!! You
would certainly get through a lot of rear tyres!! Most of the very high
powered Sevens with multiple bike engines at around 300HP are 4WD otherwise
you simply cannot get the power down on the road.

OK on a drag strip (with a good diff), but on a windy road you would end up
in the fields with the slightest blip of the throttle.

James"

I had to respond to that one - just to put the record straight.

Tol is 'the other list' on yahoo.

I bloody hate the yahoo way of doing the messages, on a boat forum i went to it was absolute nonsense....

This is the best lay out of forum IMHO!

What would James tell you about that I wonder?

Maybe great in a straight line but would have to be careful applying power in corners i bet.

In short track sprints I competed against 2 turbo cossie 7's and blitzed both of them.
One was beaten by so may people he finally sold it, somewhat his fault though.
Both suffered badly from turbo power problems.
Don't get me wrong, very fast in a straight line when power was down but difficult to control when cornering and re-applying power.
The guy who couldn't drive his, usually spun out at first or second corner as he could not stop the turbo coming on boost and launching him off.

Both of them and me were comprehensively beaten by a Westie with a 1300cc Xflow engine. Light, nimble with just the right balance.

HP doesn't always help. The times set by all the 7's were much faster than the Scoobies etc etc.

Good fun though. Some of the most unlikely cars are belters.

hicost has a pile of anti-lag buttons and mechanisms, I'm sure his is fully sorted....

there's enough logging and dials on his car! he also showed me that he runs 2 engine maps, just turn the chip round and plug it in on hte other side and the car's fuelling is changed! very clever stuff....

Ned.

On the trip back from the hospital i seam to remember James saying that until the incident just before lunch, there was only one car on track that he hadn't passed and that was after he had turned down his boost to 20 bar from 30? to guarantee the engine for the following weekend.
Think he said it was a westie ( but not a 1300 tho)

Jason it was a Caterham R400. We were trying to get past the WLR to have a go at the R400 when all hell let loose and James poached his tootsies.
