Testing water, trackday in aid of cancer research?
Having been touched by this terrible illness twice (not me swimbo) I have often thought could I give a little back considering the treatment and care
she as received, I've not even picked the phone up yet but wondered could we/I get enough people interested in attending a track day with a
proportion of the entry fee going towards a donation to cancer research, we could all simply donate a tenner tomorrow job done, how about we have a
fun day out and donate a tenner ? Maybe have a few fun awards, best spin, unluckiest attendee, small donation for passenger laps (see if I can get
track organisers to wave passenger fee to enable this) just thinking out loud open to any ideas and suggestions?
Sorry if I've not worded it very well but I'm sure you get the idea, could I get enough to attend? I don't even know if I've
left it too late to organise somthing this year but would like to give it a go.
Thoughts?

Might be up for bringing the RSR out, assuming the circuit isn't hundreds of miles away!

Yes, same here, location wise and date wise as long as im home id do it. Would a mid country location be advisable? Blyton park has a good number of
track days etc and im sure you can hire the place as well depending on how many people can be booked on, i should be able to muster at least 3-4 with
cars. You could ge the local rag to come along as well, the passenger ride is a good idea definatly. .....at a push perhaps a mag like Practical
Performance Car would be interested in a short story.
The numbers that will be affected by cancer are scary, and its not stopping.
I'd certainly be willing to help out in any way, and attend if home, if not as above there would be a few i could muster. Good idea!

Great idea, the chap who built my car had cancer and subsequently passed so I would be happy to support and idea such as this.
A couple of years ago, I helped a friend who was doing a charity track day with one of the local car clubs but it was a little different to your idea.
It was mostly rally cars and it was part of bigger non-car related event. Members of the public paid a sum of money (I think it was somewhere around
£20-£30) to have 4 or 5 laps as a passenger in the rally car. The owner/drivers of the car didn't pay anything as long as they agreed to give
passenger rides. It was very popular and raised a good sum of money. I can imagine something similar working well. A track day where you can either
pay full price and a portion of it goes to charity or you don't pay anything but instead give passenger rides to the public. 4 or 5 passenger
rides alone would raise as much or more than the cost of a track day.
How about talking to the people at Donington, they are keen to support cancer charities, in particular Hope Against Cancer. They might be allow the
circuit to be used for free so that all proceeds can go to the charity.
