Thats not a bad deal but i cant help but think that i dont need..

· Throttle body

· Engine loom

· Fuel rail

· Leads and plugs

· Coil pack

· Water pump

· Clutch

· Flywheel

· Thermostat housing

· Throttle body

· Sump

Can a more basic engine be bought with extra saving? What are ford like to buy from direct?

Priced a short engine from Ford at my local dealership £2700!

£750 for a new engine is looking good now!

What price do blacktops usually make 2nd hand?

I bought one from kitspares (via ebay, for £600)
I sold the fuelrail injectors, t/body and loom for £50

I modified the Sump to suit
Leads, plugs, dizpac, thermohousing, waterpump can all be used easy enough. (or sold)
Clutch and flywheel should sell for a reasonable amount

£600 for a new engine? Thats a great price..

the westfield sump should work.. What induction direction did you go on the engine then? carbs or TB's?

For a while they were auctioning them off, so over several months I bidded as low as I could on as many As I could and eventually won one for £570 + 50 shipping (so acctually £620).

I guess they werent making any/enough money on the auctions so they are BIN only. Maybe worth a call to them ask them for the best price as you are looking at 2nd hand but would go for a new one if the price is right.

Induction wise, I picked up another bargain - brand new (private sale, not from shop/dealer) set of Weber Alpha 45s with full management etc.

PS the engine was bought about 2 years ago.

That was my exact feeling, coupled with the fact it gave me a good shot at getting a brand new reg.

I called Ford directly before I bought mine and they gave me a price of £1600 for a complete engine. Prices must vary greatly, but even when I bought mine, the BuyitNow was £699 IIRC.
