Bad Day
So
Here’s the story:
The day before yesterday I taxed My MK Indy and went out for my first drive of the year.
Went up to see a mate and blow away the cobwebs.
Didn’t make it home spun the car ,managed to get it straight but didn’t manage to miss the lamp post!
Removing the right hand suspension.
Having contacted my insurance company ,their designated repair garage in Plymouth rang me up and we had a conversation about repairing Kit Cars .I
don’t think they were keen and this morning having rung the insurance company again they mentioned I might have to find a more specialised garage to
do the repairs for me.
The question is :
Do I contact MK ?
Try and find a local specialist ?
Try and do a deal to do the work my self?
Its probably going to need a new chassis so it’s a total rebuild.

I would say contact MK - they can get the chassis on their jig and see if it's been knocked out of alignment anywhere - it might just need new
mounts (unless you can see that it's bent)...
Good luck, it always seems the worst at first look!

tell them you will do it yourself, and blag them into more money for the indy R chassis full cage etc etc anyway as long as your ok its only
a car and you can build another one, having said that i would be gutted

Gutted for you, but - As above, seems like an ideal opportunity to replace your "spec R" chassis to me!!!

Biggest problem is MK are 290 miles away so the logistics would be interesting.
Ill give MK a ring later .I'm sure I'm not the first.
And yes I'm absolutely gutted!

most unfortunate - annoying and depressing as it is, don't beat yourself up about it, you are not the first and won't be the last.
everyone one makes mistakes, sometimes we get away with it, other times we don't.

Do NOT use a garage that "does not do kit Cars".
It would be a major mistake on your part.
Go with MK, or do it yourself.
However, MK can check the chassis for alignment better than you can. You can probably do it, albeit not as quickly!
Avoid regular garages. You will regret it if you take it to a normal garage. They just dont have the experience on these sorts of cars.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Just be wary of going down the whole new chassis route as you may well end up having to go through IVA and re-registration?

Definitely not! Provided you get to keep the Indy as part of the insurance settlement, you can rebuild with a new chassis and at worst it will need a
VIC before being put back on the road. Chances are, it won't even require a VIC.
I'd also suggest getting the vehicle to MK so they can liaise with the insurance company regarding repairs etc.
Sounds like you had a similar accident to our old man, only difference is that he hit the lampost head on AND knocked it down.

Iv just been up the same road ,going to Exeter with my wife.
I didnt realise (Even though I sat there for three and a half hours waiting for the RAC)
There is only one lamp post on that side of the road.
You couldnt hit the bloody thing even if you wanted too!!!!!!!!

What a bugger.
- Deffonatly sounds like the recomendation is to take it to MK though.
- I wouldnt worry about the 200mile to get to there place, jsut ring them.
Someone on here near you may have a trailer, or hire one, or maybe mk and move it for you.

Thats bad luck.
If you're in Plymouth (whereabouts btw?), then I've recently found a local company who specialise in building/repairing TVR's and
kit cars. they're called MB Motorsport and are based in Wrangaton (just past Ivybridge). http://www.mbmotorsport.eu
They might be able to help.

my car was trashed - IF it gets written off you may get the option to buy it back if its a cat c or d - the best bit is the price - i bought mine back
as a cat b write off - 6 % of the valuation payment - so if they say the cars worth - example 10,000 - 6% of that - £600 - buy it back - get the
insurance payout - left with a car to repair pocket full o money.. if thats how i understand it...

Im in Lifton (just ouside Launceston)
Interesting to hear about MB Motorsport
By choice Id like it to go up to MK but always useful to have another possibility up your sleeve.
I have to admit buying back the wreck has always been in my mind.
Think my wife has other ideas for the money!
