Oulton park NSSCC

My son, Pete will be out racing again this Saturday, 8th Aug, at Oulton. He races a Honda Civic in the 1600cc class (class D).
At the moment it's looking like a long old day. Sign on at 9-30 and racing at 6-07 pm!! I'm fairly confident that, as has happened the last two meetings, we'll be bundled in with the bigger classes, so should hopefully race at 14-45.
Feel free to say hello.

Race timetable

This is the car:

Just had a new timetable confirmation. We're quallifying at 9am, and racing at 2-45. The last race slot we think is an all comers race. Will decide on the day about that one...

Nice looking weather forecast too.

Hmmmm, not the best of days! Basically, the Civic quallified very well, 2nd in class, but got punted off in the first corner. Pete explained he'd missed a gear going off the start line, and someone ran into the back of him. Fair enough I thought. But, having seen the video footage, yes he missed a gear, but it was nothing more than a momentry blip on the throttle, then whack!, he gets an almighty thump from the rear, and went backwards into the tyre wall.
He inititially thought it was game over, but on his way back to the paddock, the car felt OK, so he gave chase. There were only 7 cars in his class, one crashed out, he caught another, so got a fifth.

At this stage, I'll say thanks to Richard and Adrian for lending out with the battle repairs. Allways nice to meet folks.

The second race was a non championship round, Pete was going really well, when the car started to lose power. The water temperature was sky high. Pulled out and called it a day. We think it was a user error, as in no-one has checked the bloody water level for ages! Remains to be seen if we've been lucky.. or not..

Pete will no doubt get some video up soon, and here's a few pics;

I did wonder about that, given the signs of small loss around the bottom hose, but didn't like to say. I recon you'll have got away with it. Only time will tell.

We'll have to get a bit more serious with the car prep for next year. Big clip board and check list eh?

Have you got those titanium road springs fitted yet?

Hope you're right about ye olde V-tec.

I think the op lock thing's probably instict kicking in. He's got a bit of a stiff neck today..

It's a real shame he got pushed off, cos there was a cracking class D battle on the track, he should have been among em!

Roll on Cadwell.
