Driftday at Oulton Sept 26th
It’s been a couple of months since Trackaction-Online last went drifting at Oulton so we felt the need for a bit more sideways playing!
We’re back on the drift courses again on Saturday Sept 26th and as usual, club discounts are available if you’d like to come along.
For anyone that hasn’t seen the two drift courses at Oulton, they look like this –
And this is what we do on them –
The surface is a special low friction tarmac that will give virtually zero tyre wear and is great for practicing drifting and car control and we
always limit the numbers to ensure that everyone gets plenty of tracktime. Pretty well any rear wheel drive (and most sporty 4wd) car can drift on
here and with the free instruction that we always have available on the day you can be sure that you’ll be drifting like a pro in no time!
Normal rate for the day is £140 but club members can come along for just £120, passengers are welcome to sign in for £10 and extra drivers for £35.
Please shout up on this thread if you’d like to come and I’ll send you the booking details and discount code.
Hope a few of you can make it.

Is it at Oulton Park as mentioned in the thread or at Mallory Park as mentioned in the tittle?

I was out for a few laps in a drifters car at Llandow (I begged!).
I giggled the entire time! It was superb fun!
Respect to anyone who can manage it!

Quick bump for this event.
The polished surface on the drift courses makes it really easy to learn how to control your car in a slide and if ever there was a fun day out for a
se7en, this is it, get your names down!

Has anybody done this circuit in a BEC? I've watched it at Oulton but wondered what it's like with a bike engine.

I don't remember there ever being a BEC at any of our days, I do it in my Westfield which is a Duratec with sequential and it works well, the
only thing that I think a BEC would lack is the ability to provoke the back end to break away mid-corner with a down change and a sudden release of
the clutch as your engine will have so little inertia - no problem with using a blip on the power or the handbrake though
We've got a couple of westfields already booked in for this one so you'll have some company if you fancy it.

What a fun day that was! Well organised, good instruction and a great group of drivers.
It really is low grip though and there's no problem spinning up the wheels with a BEC. When the circuit is watered then very few get around
without a spin. After a day of spinning wheels there's no significant wear to the tyres.
My car isn't suited to drifting but I now understand it's handling much better. To get it out of shape I had to be travelling a lot
quicker than some of the tin-tops and that took some nerve. Having done a couple of laps with an instructor driving there was no way I was going to go
that quick! He was very complimentary about the handling and balance which is nice to hear from someone who knows what he's talking about.
When there's another one of these I'd recommend doing it.

We had a great day on Saturday at Oulton –
There’s more photos of some of the cars HERE and a
bit of video HERE
Just want to say thanks to all those that came along, it was a really friendly group with people blagging rides in each other cars etc – makes it an
enjoyable day to run.
We’re looking forward to our trackday now at Oulton on Nov 13th and our next driftday will be on Dec 19th so I’ll be posting a thread up about that
one soon, hope to see some of you there!
Cheers

Just in the middle of cleaning the car. It's going to take at least 3 washes and then there's the engine bay!
