Bearing races loose?
Hi, Recieved my new hubs the other day the bearing races are slightly loose, one even fell out. I know this isnt right but as they are tappered
bearings and are all held in place by the pressure from the hub nut can i run it like this or is a definate safety issue and i shouldnt even consider
fitting them on the car?
Thanks for any advice

I wouldnt even think about fitting them if they are loose enough to fall out
They will move about in the hub and get even looser .

Return the hubs as faulty? or check out Loctite products , IIRC they do a compound for securing bearings. An old dodge is to go round the inside of
the hub using a dot punch which raises the surface so it grips the bearing.

Is it just the outer roller race which fell out?
If so - yes that is OK as it is held in place by the stub axle.
If it is the inner race ring loose in the hub then no that's not right.

Its both. i think its only on one side, really frustrating as this is the 3rd set we have been sent along with the car being off the road for 5 weeks
but im not happy putting them in and thanks for confirming my fears, time for the 4th set

Exact opposite of above advice loose outer races are very bad news --- it can only get worse when the components heat up especially if these area
alloy hubs.
Basically you have been sold parts that should be reject bin.

Yes - I meant "innermost" rather than inner, so in effect the outer ring ![](/images//smilies/tongue.gif)

If the outer is loose in the hubs then you can stick them in with loctite bearing retainer - something like 642 or similar. Thats what its designed
for....
But equally you could return them as faulty....
