Oulton Park Trackday Videos

Did a track day at Oulton on Wednesday, couple of videos here.

A few laps: -

Playing with my md80 camera: -

And a "bit of a spin": -

Best lap time about 2:10, which I should be able to shave a few seconds off by: -

* Growing larger testes to carry more speed through Druids sand Old Hall
* Doing Druids properly - this was my first time in the dry and my brain was making me follow the wet track line, keeping out wide off the "rubber" then treating it as a single late-apex corner.
* Replacing my tyres with R888 or similar, unfortunately wifes redundancy means I can't justify at the moment

I nearly had an incident-free day, but on the last lap my exhaust collector came away from the downpipes and got scraped under the car for a full in-lap. Hoping my brother can weld it properly, otherwise I guess I've got the excuse I've wanted for ages to replace with a stainless system - not great timing money wise though!

Cracking day though, and I look a bit like a swan-vesta now due to the lack of sun cream!

Not booked on Cadwell yet, need to see if I can cobble my exhaust back together. Brothers coming round tomorrow to look at it and hopefully if he can sort it for me next week I'll book myself on.

I didn't take my laptop so I couldn't download the data for the overlay - digidash only records about 20 minutes before I have to download the data.

Great video's,looks like you had nice weather,I don't think Ive ever been to Oulton Park when its not been cold or raining, and I can't believe you have still got those Marangoni tyres on, you had them on last time I saw you at Teeside autodrome, that was over 2 years ago, well at least you have got your moneys worth out of them.
You will have to be quick if you want to book on the Cadwell with us all on the 7th of July, there's only 4 places left
Me and Chris are also booked on Oulton Park on the 4th of August again with Easytrack, still plenty of places available on that one.

Cracking vids Si, car sounds superb. Got to agree with Paul, you need to get some grippy rubber. You will fly!

Hoping and praying for an equally good day on the 15th.

Haven't watched the vids yet. Was it Island or International? What engine have you got in yours?

Even the Locost record is a 2:06.57. (I'm still pretty proud of my 2:08.43 in a considerably less than perfect car.)

Exhaust welded up, and Cadwell now booked

Now just keeping my eye out for some cheap FWD-offset ford 13's on fleabay to stick some slicks on - missed out on some Fiesta Supersport 6J13's yesterday by seconds!

Yea! ..only hope slicks are the preferred tyre choice, after the last monsoon day all we had together.

Have you tried 13" rims on your car at all? I've heard of clearance problems with some Sierra running gear..
