Type 9 Gearbox
After all the selection issues I've had with the gearbox its has finally let go! First now takes 2 hands to select and 3rd is completely
missing! Selects fine but no drive at all!
Does anyone have any idea what a type 9 gearbox is worth? I would prefer a re-con unit or one with next to no miles as I'm racing it?
Its a 1800 Zetec if that makes any difference
Cheers

I believe they are £300 upwards for recons, have a look on the bay........
Saying that, I am not convinced all recons are good stuff. Just depends what has been done and very importantly what quality components used. ie
decent OE bearings/seals etc or cheap unbranded tat.

if your racing it could be worth an uprated box - not the cheapest option, but you do get to pick the ratio's
try BGH, the guys there are realy helpful: http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/5_speed.html
there boxes do ocasionaly come up second hand if you keep your eyes open

go for an uprated box with a longer 1st, especially if your racing nothing worse than expecting a day of racing and hearing the box go bang in
qualifying,
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone
