megajolt to pc problems

hi all, i need some help connecting my megajolt to my laptop. i keep on getting the message "time out reading cylinder count". i have tried a different laptop but with the same result. Last week end when i could get the car started due to me wiring the edis up side down, it did work but had some strange readings. And now i have to bloody engine started i can’t connect to it and the little light is on so i know i have power. Any pointers would be great. Thanks all

Check the com port the computer has allocated.
Megajolt can only use ports 1 to 10 and if using a serial to USB adaptor the computer seems to allocate a different com port every time.
I had to into hardware manager and delete some things on the com ports to free up a port, also in megaton you can allocate the com port to use

i have tried to laptops with the same result, one using a usb lead and the other using the serial port...... i have just plug it into the car again and the car is no longer on " limp home mode" and it now ticks over, so i would say that the megajolt is working. it just wont talk to the laptop... that said, i am willing try anything 50 times if i have to after i was convinced that i had wired the edis correctly. so thanks frank for the offer i'll see if i can come around in the next few days.

We run our MJ with a bog standard XP laptop, can't see you need an upgarde, are you sure your crank position sensor is close enough to generate a signal (they have to be very close to the trigger wheel), we had problems at first and had to reposition the sensor.

Check your mj & software version. We got the same message with the wrong software version for the model of mj. Need to use V3 mj & v3.x software, v4 mj & v4 software

Cheers, Francis
