Valve Clearances

Hi All,

I am thinking about checking over the engine with service items before spring hits and were out whenever possible.
Looking through the manual ive done it all before with the exception of checking the valve clearances. I know this is recommended at 24,000miles which i dont think it has done but im sure the extra weight takes its toll and reduces this.

Is this then as simple as the haynes makes it sound to atleast check the clearances?

Any tips for a first timer and can the crank be rotated if left in neutral in its current position(in the engine bay)?

Suppose i should add the engine - R1 2002-03 FI

Thanks in advance
Adam
