alternator size, whats the smallest
Hi all,
Im looking for an alternator which i want to attach to my 2.0 blacktop zetec. I need one that is, well, very small in size. GBS do one but at £117
just for the alternator, (clicky linky to GBS) I was wondering
what anyone knows of that is physically small but has reasonable output and most important is cheap as chips.

Try searching ebay for Dhiatsu and Kubota ones...

Daihatsu charade seem to be popular on here.
Can be picked up faily cheaply on ebay.

search for denso alternator (dihatsu, kubota etc ones are made by nippon denso)
eg Denso Light Weight Competition Alternator 40 Amp | eBay
ok still 75 squid, but almost the same as one as i bought from someone on here... as i remember he was pretty slow
... and small
... and silly
... and weak
... and pure dead boring
... and ugly, no fugly 
... and whatever the opposite of humble is
but he was a gent...
anyway, there is loads on ebay, but the nippon denso ones are known to be good for us now, so price has gone up...

Citroen 2cv alternators are very small about 35A output and very easy to fit....cheap to buy as well.....
sometimes you are the pigeon, most of the time the statue.

You can pick up Suzuki swift alternators for less than 50 quid on Ebay.
