Who bought the LCD welding mask at Donnington?

Someone in our little group bought an LCD mask from one of the stands for not many pennies, but I can't remember who it was. Mate needs one and I was hoping you could remember who the people selling them were?

Failing that, anyone know where to get one on the cheap?

Cheers,
Matt.

The second one is cheapest

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Yeah, it was me. cost 40 quid I think. It was from the guys who had the big stand in the centre of the "tools tent", I think they were called ABC Tools or something like that. Is there a map of donnington stallholders somewhere?

It's ok, not brilliant. I expect more expensive ones would have nicer LCDs. the darkness and clarity varies over the surface when it's active, so I find myself trying to watch through the bottom of the window. You can't see nearly as clearly what's going on with the puddle and around the weld as you can with normal glass, however you can see where you're starting in a dark garage, which helps.

I swap between the two masks now: LCD for tack welds and patching little holes, where it's more important to be able to see where you're starting, avoiding spraying around for a moment until you get your bearings; and the glass for longer runs of weld.

Getting out in the daylight is nice, apart from wind. Doing wishbones next, I will go back to using the plain glass with me trusty little 300W halogen bench light so I can see what I'm doing.
