Great day at Bedford, but...

Had a great novice day at Bedford yesterday, but looks like a have an oil leak issue.

Blacktop zetec with the large oil separator on the side. It looks as though oil is leaking out of the bottom of this. Is it known for these to rust through?

when I took mine off the donor engine there was quite a bit of rust but not enough to look like it was leaking (although there was oil coming from it somehwere) but it did have a very flimsy paper gasket between it and the block.

I have blanked it off and put a filter on the cam breather. All seems ok!

There seems to be a split in opinions on blanking the crankcase breather or not.

Mine is not exactly a young engine. I'll pull the separator off and see if it's leaky or the gasket is knackered.

I'm not sure if to keep it or bin it at the moment...

I know what you mean, I took advice from the factory (GBSC) who blank off all their factory builds. Although instead of the £24 they wanted for the blanking plate, I made my own locost style!!!
