It Broke

These bits here decided to leave the side of the block on a mates 205 hillclimb car with a Pug MI16 engine fitted at about 7500 rpm.

Had a good look at the rest of it and its scrap value only i'm afraid

We think the rest of the Piston might be in the field somewhere

The one ARP rod bolts held up well though......

Well if you're going to break it you might as well do it properly

Looks like rod bolts was the cause, was they standard bolts.

The guy I service for in stage rallies has a collection of bits like that from his Mi16s, some mounted on bits of mahogany He just melted a hole in an expensive forged piston on the last event so that will be joining the collection I suspect.

At least you didn't throw the rod into someone's windscreen!

It was Steves, No worries as there was another engine in within days as he doesn't hang around with the spanners



Good job it wasn't his Cossie in the Escort though
