Newlands (nr. Guildford, Surrey) 7th May. 10AM.

So, I'm sure most of you are all 'meeted' out after Stoneleigh but for those of us who didn't get to go....

Seeya at Newlands Corner car park.

Sunday 7th May. 9.30-10AM.

Be there, or be.....

... someone who gets 4/5 more hours done on their car!

Seeya there,
James

No, that was just one of the many templates I made. Just testing the hole positions. Roughly cut out with the grinder.

Have to say though, I'm damn impressed with the shut line between that panel and the nosecone, even if I say so myself!

I've since cut the 'ears' off the chassis so that hole is now filled and I've cut the bottom corner out of the bodywork.

Cheers,
James

Jim,

As you know I used cardboard for my templates, much cheaper, quicker and easier to work with.

Have you put some nice big gussets behind the ears of the chassis you've cut off?

Ned.

Cheers for the template advice Ned! Certainly useful at this point in my build!

I did 1st template on paper. Then a more advanced card one, and then an ali one to be sure on some scrap sheet I had. Remember, my chassis isn't standard, I wasn't gonna take any risks.

And no, no extra gussets. Are you going to suggest I cut off my ali panels to do that now? I know you're getting worried about the race but I ain't falling for that!
Was fine with the way I've done my nose anyway.

Good enough for everyone???

Cheers,
James

EDIT: Legoland! Hah! It's rubbish!

...and it'll probably be mine

[/mwah ha ha harr]

ps looking at the pic again if you have just cut the ears off so they don't stick out of the panels there must be less than half an inch of steel to support the tube thats part of the front bulkhead frame which your suspension mounts are attached to?!!!

Hello James and the others. It was nice to meet you at Newlands today. I'm the old guy who was taking pix.

After a good bit of searching I have my E-reg donor Sierra but there's a big problem..

The body and insides are in such good nick that I hate the thought of taking an angle grinder to it. Such is life.

Hope to see you again next month, and if there is anybody building or built in North London it would be good to get in touch.
