Stoneleigh from upt norf
RichardK - 17/4/09 at 08:45 AM

I'm thinking of going this year and camping there, anybody else driving down?

Maybe.... "We can get ourselves a convoy"

If other are, maybe we could meet at the new Wetherby sevices? Date & Time??

Cheers

Rich

:{THC}:YosamiteSam - 17/4/09 at 09:28 AM

were travelling down from stockton on sunday morning - coming back monday afternoon / evening.. could meet if on the same date..

Guinness - 17/4/09 at 09:28 AM

I'll be heading down there from Newcastle. Me and the boy are planning on camping too.

Could make it a Saturday drive down, camp Sat night, and drive back up on Sunday afternoon.

Mike

coozer - 17/4/09 at 10:39 AM

Its a Sun.Mon show so why are people going Saturday and only camping the one night?

Would driving down Sunday, camping Sunday night, drive back Monday not be better?

:{THC}:YosamiteSam - 17/4/09 at 12:37 PM

good man - the convoy is growing

anyone wanting to join in put your name down here..

coozer - 17/4/09 at 12:38 PM

I''ll come as long as I don't have to sit behind Mike....

RichardK - 17/4/09 at 03:17 PM

I'm planning on going down Sunday and camping overnight (its a fiver to camp btw, its ok to pay on the day) drivers free, passengers £15. AA route planner reckons it will take me
2 hr 40 minutes and distance is 142 miles from Knaresborough. You can get on the camping field from 12:00 on Saturday.

So what about meeting up at Wetherby services at 10:00 and stopping at various locations en route? Reckon we'd get there about 15:00 in time to have a quick look round and then fire up the disposable bbq's and then have a few shandy's.

How does this sound? If ok, who's meeting at Wetherby? u2u me and I'll create a list. Like wise others that want to meet further down let me know where you suggest we stop and meet up and we'll see if we can put something together.

Cheers

Rich

Guinness - 17/4/09 at 06:02 PM

I'll leave Newcastle around 8.00 am, stop at Scotch Corner at 9.00 am. Should get to Wetherby by 10.00 am comfortably.

Cheers

Mike

RichardK - 17/4/09 at 08:09 PM

Nice one Mike, see you there!

coozer - 19/4/09 at 08:39 PM

Thats it then, I'm coming down with Mike. You want to see her face

Mike? just you and me or anybody else from here?

14 miles of 50mph on the M1 so i suggest going down the A1 towards Newark then down the A46. No extra miles just better roads

Steve

DRC INDY 7 - 20/4/09 at 06:35 PM

Si - 21/4/09 at 09:50 PM

I am hoping to go on the Sunday, not camping though. There may be a few others from the Hull area also.

Oh dear, where can I park me MNR??

RichardK - 23/4/09 at 05:16 PM

I'm going for the 39c Locost Car Club even though I'm not a member! The Locost Car Club website doesn't seem to have been updated since 06 so I don't think they'll mind!!

See ya there (Steve you coming down with Mike if so I'll see ya at Wetherby at 10:00)

Guinness - 23/4/09 at 07:21 PM

We camped at Stoneleigh a few years ago. Just turned up and paid on the day.

I think 39 seems to be shared between the Locost Car Club, F27 Owners, MK Sportscars and the Historic Specials.

I recon that covers most of us!

Yep, can Yosam join us on the A1 and then pick up DRC further down.

Everyone agree with the A46 route instead of the M1?

Si - 24/4/09 at 06:16 AM

Us folks from around East Yorkshire will most likely be coming across via the M62, so if times are right we'll have to pick you up somewhere alomg M18/A1
Si.

RichardK - 24/4/09 at 08:43 AM

We're meeting up at Wetherby at 10:00 so would 10:45 ish at the m18/a1 services be any good?

Cheers

R

Si - 24/4/09 at 01:12 PM

Waiting on responses from the other guys in the Hull area.
I'll post likely plans as soon as we've got something together.

tul214 - 24/4/09 at 04:55 PM

Si,

I have posted on the E.Yorks thread but I would be up for meeting a convoy. I think the 1st services after A1 and M18 meet are the Blyth services.

What do you reckon?

Mark

Marlon - 24/4/09 at 05:36 PM

Hey guys
I'll make one in with swmbo at Blyth too, also should have the inlaws along for the ride in their cob (so long as no one minds!) Don't be alarmed tho If we drop out of the convoy should it end up being a little spirited, My ribs are still sore since the last time I took the mrs out for a blat! It was worth it tho

john.

B.t.w. where are peeps planning on camping? by the mk bit again?

scotch corner hotel car park at 9am is fine with me - easy to spot each other

RichardK - 24/4/09 at 11:02 PM

Growing nicely, should be a good drive down, yep agreed the A46 would be the preferred route as I do suffer a bit from wheelnut syndrome.

So.... as I haven't a clue where I'm going I going to follow Steve
Cheers

DRC INDY 7 - 25/4/09 at 08:16 AM

How many are planning on meeting at blyth services because i can join up there

coozer - 25/4/09 at 02:44 PM

I've been driving up and down to Leicester recently.

Best route straight south is A1, A614, A6097 then onto the A46 to the M1.

Cuts out the 14 miles of 50mph roadworks on the miserable M1.

Steve

RichardK - 25/4/09 at 09:14 PM

Thanks Steve, useful info as I don't get that far these days.

Cheers

Rich

Si - 26/4/09 at 07:56 AM

I think us few from the Hull area will be setting off earlier and so be an hour of two in front.
Maybe get chance to travel back with a few of you, those returning on Sunday anyway.
Si.

DRC INDY 7 - 27/4/09 at 02:02 PM

What time to meet up at blyth services on sunday

coozer - 27/4/09 at 03:18 PM

Here's a planning itinerary for anyone wanting to join the convoy. If you want times in between I can add them as I have this saved in google maps.

Route is simply A1, A614, A6097, A46, M1, M69, A46 into Stoneleigh.

Assuming a 9am start at Scotch Corner Hotel:

Scotch Corner - Depart 9.00
Wetherby Services - Depart 9.50
Ferrybridge (M62) - Pass by 10.10
Blyth Services - Depart 10.45
Join A614 - 10.55
Join A6097 - 11.15
Join A46 - 11.30
M1 Leicester Forest Services - 12.00
Stoneleigh Showground - ETA 12.30

Please shout if you want to join anywhere along the length.

Steve

Hellfire - 28/4/09 at 12:03 PM

Can't you guys coming from further north drag yourselves out of bed a few hours earlier?

Would be nice to arrive at Stoneleigh about 10:30ish.

Phil

coozer - 28/4/09 at 12:06 PM

I wouldn't mind, what do the rest say?

RichardK - 28/4/09 at 04:42 PM

I don't care, looking at the forecast maybe better!

Cheers

Rich

tul214 - 28/4/09 at 05:16 PM

There are at least 3 of us in Hull that want to go earlier. Possibly meet at Blyth at 8.30?

[Edited on 28/4/09 by tul214]

Andy W - 28/4/09 at 05:38 PM

8:00 - 8:30 at blyth sound about right to me.

Andy

RichardK - 28/4/09 at 05:43 PM

I'm ok with 7:30 at Wetherby what about the more northern boys, its them really that is gonna affect.

Cheers

R

Guinness - 28/4/09 at 06:19 PM

As it look's like it's just me and Ben coming down from Newcastle, I don't think we'll be able to set off in time to get down to Wetherby for 7.30 am. Would mean a 6.00am departure, with getting up at a very un-godly hour.

Save us a car sized space and a tent pitch at the camping and we'll follow down at our own pace.

Cheers

Mike

RichardK - 28/4/09 at 07:35 PM

OK mate, back to the original plan!

We still ok to meet up at Wetherby @10:00 and I'll have a lie in

See you & Ben there.

Rich

DRC INDY 7 - 28/4/09 at 07:40 PM

Whats the plan then whos going and at what time i can do early or later which one suits

RichardK - 28/4/09 at 08:33 PM

Steve (aka Coozer) kindly did this:

Assuming a 9am start at Scotch Corner Hotel:

Join A6097 - 11.15
Join A46 - 11.30

Cheers

Rich

Hellfire - 28/4/09 at 08:35 PM

We'll be at A1 Blyth Services on Sunday between 8:30 and 9:30

Phil

Mike, if you pretend it's a work day and drag yourself away from your duvet, I'm sure you could get down to Blyth services on the A1 for 9:30. You can have a lie-in on Monday

Hellfire, that is too close to a work day for comfort!!! I don't do early mornings when I'm not at work.

And I don't get lie in's with a solar powered son!

Mike

Hellfire - 28/4/09 at 09:20 PM

No problem mate. Probably see you at Stoneleigh then...........
