Just had an e mail from "paul franklyn"nothing in it when i opened it,i think it is via this site, then got a mail saying it was a virus that was stopped,so if you get one from him, delete imediatley.
On the same subject(ish) I set up an e-mail alias to sign up for this site. I've only ever used it here, I've started to get a LOT of spam recently,
it all gets sent to this mail addy
Whats that all about then ?
(Rhetorical question), I'm not sugesting Chris has anything to do with it, I'm just saying that after a few years of very little spam its a pity they
managed to get me ;(
Nothing to do with me guys. I hate spam as much as you do. You need to be very carefull with any site that makes your email address public (as this
one does) as there are plenty of 'spider' packages that scan through random websites for email addresses. It's a problem that every site faces and
there's not a huge amount that can be done about it unfortunatly!
As you suggest, using an alias is probably the safest way. If the spam gets to overload point just chance the alias and you're away again.
Chris
so how come my email address is public?

It can get your e-mail address from someone and send an e-mail to someone else as if from you.
Looks like Mr Franklin was just a victim.

I've been having trouble with Klez recently aswell. Luckily McAfee picks it up each time but it seems to have caught a lot of people out judging by
the number of emails I get with it in.
Best thing to do is to just delete it (or send a mail to whoever sent it telling them to get a virus scanner)
