I read a post on the wscc forum by a member who has registered on this forum but is having problems posting
He has contacted the web master with no joy
If anyone is reading this who can help his name is young pretender
Thanks
A mate of mine is having the very same problem. This is one of the problems with having a single owner/moderator who has a very busy life. ChrisW does
pop on every now and again, but it may be worth sending him a U2U.
Regards
Jon
I have had various problems on that site. The user space is very low and because I had a high number of messages (not that many) other forum users could not post to me. I had not a scooby this was happening. I also have compatibility issues when posting with my MS browser. The browser shortcuts have never worked. Also posting images is more of a faf than here so I don't.
I see I am not the only one:

Young pretender says
"Looking at the LCB members list, anyone who has joined since November last year has no posts so I would deduce that the issue is a systemic one.
Back in November (4th) the LCB owner Chris seemingly had to pull a few stops out (presumably with the website hosters) to get the LCB web back online
after it crashed. He posted to this effect in their announcement section. From that date there are no posts from any new members so I would be willing
to wager that the incident knocked out their SMS system which requires you to SMS them to confirm your registration and be able to post in threads...
"
Just to update this, Young Pretender (Mark) has U2U'd me, so he has access to send U2Us, but not to post on the forums.
He has asked me to disseminate the following, for ease and clarity I have quoted the whole U2U message.
quote:
Hi mate,
Having difficulties registering - I am on the members list but the username is case sensitive (Young Pretender).
I have worked out the following - would you be able to update the thread please?

Looks like he asked more than one person
Hi everyone
I am aware that the SMS verification has been broken for some time. In a nutshell, the issue is with the GSM modem that receives and sends the SMS
messages.
I then bought a replacement, but unfortunately that doesn't want to register on the mobile network. Good old eBay.
About to buy another replacement and try again.
Annoyingly, donations have been somewhat thin on the ground for the last couple of months so there hasn't been funds in the site's Paypal
account to deal with this any sooner. I think we're ok now though.
If anyone is desperate to get verified the other way of doing it is to make a donation from a verified Paypal account. Note that they must
have confirmed their details with Paypal (not LB) in order for them to set the verified status on the account. This then associates their real name
and phone number with their profile here giving me a method of comeback if they turn out to be a pain in the backside.

Update: New GSM modem is now on the way so hopefully we can get this issue sorted this week.
Chris
New GSM modem arrived today. I have modified the code and I believe the SMS verification is now fixed. New users will have to send the code again
I'm afraid.
Cheers, Chris
Hi Everyone
Sorry to those that have been trying to register for the past 2-3 weeks. I discovered that the antenna for my GSM modem had been broken. Nobody has
owned up, and it was reachable from the alleyway beside our house, so my guess is some local scallywag decided he wanted it. All that was left was
the snapped off end of the cable.
I had to order a replacement, and this time did it 'properly' and bought a professional aerial with a wall bracket. Today I mounted it nice
and high up on my wall well away from any potential interference.
The upshot of all this is that phone verification should now be working again. I am still suffering from a fairly rubbish signal strength but
it's better than it was and certainly workable.
http://chrisw.net/pics/img_5403.jpg <--- if anyone is interested? It's the thing screwed to the wall behind the Sky dish, not the massive
one at the top. I'd have put it up there but there wasn't enough cable and I don't have a long enough ladder!
Cheers, Chris
