Can you Chris alter the site so that you cannot type an answer of raise a new topic without being logged in

I've lost count of the times i've typed in a long answer, pressed post, only to be told that i have first got to log in and losing all the text i've just typed

Am I missing something,
It says whether you are logged in or not at the top right of the home page,

Gotta agree with emsfactory and stevec

Coding every eventuality for user error is a nightmare

it clearly states whether you are logged in at the top right - check that before posting ;-)

if you're worried about it - press CTRL+N before you hit POST

that'll open a new window - if it does ask for username/password - enter it - then press POST on original window - Bob's your uncle, Dave's your Aunt and Bungle's mates with Zippy and George.

Yea it does,which is nice
But if you're NOT logged in it will still let you hit the reply button on a post, you then type your reply then hit post reply and it clears your text and tells you you need to be logged in to post!
Not too much of a problem if all you did was doa line of smileys, but a pain in the rear if you've just gone to the trougle of penning a considered answer.
As you can probably tell i'm well practiced at this too!

I think that having to log in is very sensible, it stops any tom dick and harry from visiting the site and talking rubbish, (much the same as we do), but without you knowing who they are, very dodgy if you ask me. Keep the signing in !!!

Nobody wants to not sign in, thats not the point being made.
Rather, just that you are fooled into being allowed to type a lengthy reply without being sighned in and then it all being lost , rather than asking for you to sign in.

aye, ive had that one too myself. The solution is to not log out, and ensure your locostbuilder cookie is alive and well
