We need Sticky Threads
Jasper - 27/11/06 at 12:46 PM

After reading the Hints for Beginners post in the Locost Related Section it made me think that we could really use some Sticky and Locked Threads to help newcomers (and the rest of us!).

If we do this we will need a few old timers to 'Moderate' them. What I'm not suggesting is that these members have any control of what is said in ANY other situation at all, just people who can help organise and set a few useful Sticky Threads.

What do people think?

They can certainly be done (the MNR section has a sticky FAQ).
The problem seems to be ChrisW being insanely busy most of the time.

Which is why we need a few other people to deal with it.

That'll teach me to read the whole post

I agree, but I'm not sure if Chris could do that without giving additional rights (thread locking/deleting).

I really like the 'light touch' approach we currently have, and having lots of moderators can risk that.

Last time i spoke to chris he did mention little helpers so i think its probably likely he will go for it.

I must admit it would help the search facility out which is pants,i spent more time than i really needed to looking for an old zetec instalation thread yesterday

I've always said we need a better database for info, maybe the sticky threads would be the answer

Sticky threads always seem like a good idea, but on every forum I use the sticky threads containg FAQs etc. seem to be overlooked and you still see the same questions asked over and over again.

Maybe an archive section for common questions, great threads, etc.
