Rear wing stone guards.

Anyone fitted stone guards to MK rear wings? If so did you make or buy? I like the W**tfield carbon fibre ones but not at the price they want!

LOCODUDE the Plastic Tank Man can knock you up some in grained or smooth plastic.

Black offcourse

Is there anything that man can't do!? When is he going to give up his job and just make 7 bits full time? Go on Mr Gibbons, you know it makes sense!

Old news.

He does.

Metal Hippy™ - 12/3/03 at 08:36 AM

Sort of.

He does that and builds turn key cars for MK.

Its pretty easy to make shiny stainless ones - cut to shape then spend hours polishing the stainless. Pop rivet on.

Looks pretty good.

I've got some carbon sheets that I'm gonna use for dash as stone guards - if there's any left I'll sell it you

zetec - 12/3/03 at 08:25 PM

Jasper, let me know that would be good.

Are there any 'plans/drawings' for these guards?

Cheers

Andy

Jasper - 16/3/03 at 10:35 AM

Andy - dont think plans are needed, just cut them to make em fit the bottom section of your rear wing. Also depends if you have the wide or standard rear wings too...

Viper - 16/3/03 at 10:39 AM

Armourfend is an easy solution and works very well..

Lolocost do an inexpensive stainless set for £10.

Mk do Carbon ones, not sure of the price.

mdc124 - 21/3/03 at 06:50 PM

Would they look nice on my car Chris?

Any piccies? (and of my car last weekend pretty please?)

zetec - 22/3/03 at 10:12 AM

Just called MK and they are £30...ouch. Cut to size but not drilled. Can stick or rivet on.

macspeedy - 22/3/03 at 03:18 PM

is that each or for a pair as i have seen them for £40 for a pair.

zetec - 22/3/03 at 04:06 PM

Pair.

Jasper - 22/3/03 at 04:16 PM

Buy a sheet of carbon and make them yourself, then use the left-overs for fancy touches elsewhere!

zetec - 23/3/03 at 09:11 AM

Is it easy to cut?

mdc124 - 23/3/03 at 04:30 PM

I wondered that too - I imagine frayed carbon fibre blowing in the wind?

Or does it cut cleanly with a router/dremel style thingy?

Jasper - 23/3/03 at 07:58 PM

Apparently with fine toothed jigsaw (mask off the panel first though so u dont scratch it) and also with dremmel. Edges can be sanded too, cuts well I've heard. I'll let you know!
