How many laps do you think i will get with no sump or oil in the indy?

I think i will just be watching unless some nice person is going to take me for a little spin. Sod it! is there anyone going to let me take there car for a few laps!!!!

brynhamlet - 18/2/08 at 07:44 PM

How soon do I have to pay

I haven't got a job at the mo but now my engine is run in, (advantage of being out of work), sounds like fun

PAUL FISHER - 19/2/08 at 12:59 AM

Just to let everyone know, noise levels are being enforced at bruntingthorpe at,98db's static, and 87.5db's drive by,so BEC boys will have to work hard to get down to this level, extra large silencers will be required,I will be having one fitted on mine before the event, also open/foam type inductions even with the extra exhaust silencing will likely push you over the 87.5 drive by,so a enclosed airbox would be recommended, its quiet a few weeks away yet,so anyone thinking of attending, you have time to get sorted, but it should be a great event

mad gaz - 19/2/08 at 09:34 AM

oh-no 103db @ 5500 revs at cadwell got some work to do. got to get rid of the air filter

JUD - 25/2/08 at 09:06 PM

I should be there - provided it's not lashing down with rain!

I had noise issues with the standard MK exhaust can - was told to not nail it past the drive by meter which is part way up the main straight. Problem with that is that it slows your entire lap.

Now have the larger MK can - no issues at all with that.

Just to update on bruntingthorpe on the 29th of March, after my last post regarding the normal 87.5db drive by noise level.Spoke to MK today, you can ring MK direct to book your place, also they have said if you pass the 98db static test, there's no need to worry about the drive by,they have spoke to the organisers, they are aware there will be a lot of BEC's that day.
It will be a great day,and a ideal venue for your 1st track day, plenty of run off,and there will be instruction available for all,to ensure all owners old and new get the most out of there cars, there will also be a sprint/drift circuit,so we can all learn to do it like a pro, looking at the list today quite a few booked on already, and at £80 good value, can't wait

Guinness - 26/2/08 at 07:39 AM

Just a quick note. I "needed" a noise meter for work. So I am now the proud owner of one of these Maplin jobbies:

I know it isn't calibrated, but it should give peps an idea of where they are at.

I'll be taking it along to the NE7ER's meet tomorrow night to have a test / sound off.

If it works, I'm more than happy to lend it out to any MK's thinking of attending who are worried about noise, subject to the lendee paying postage.

whitestu - 26/2/08 at 08:23 AM

Damn! I won't be back on the road by then. I've not had much time to work on the car lately.

Stu

PAUL FISHER - 26/2/08 at 12:09 PM

On that note, any car can be noise checked at MK at anytime as well, for anyone local to the factory,Saturday mornings is usually best, just let me know.

Guinness - 10/3/08 at 04:46 PM

Graeme, any update on who want's paying for this? and when?

Martylemoo's post has just reminded me that I'm booked on this!

Cheers

Mike

RobH - 10/3/08 at 07:52 PM

Do I have to book and pay in advance or can I just turn up on the day??

Rob

phoenix70 - 10/3/08 at 09:04 PM

Would love to attend this but can't for two reason.

1 .. The Car is not out of winter hibernation yet, and

2 .. Its a little far away 381 miles according to google maps ... damn

Should be a good day

PAUL FISHER - 11/3/08 at 12:51 PM

Just update,to book on ring MK 01909 731187,and put your name on the list, theres quite a few booked on now,so it should be a good day,no deposit is required just pay the full amount on the day. This is first one of these events, there are going to be more planned over coming months.
Sorry no camping bruntingthorpe, but there is a travel lodge at lutterworth just down the road,0871 9846182

Mark G - 16/3/08 at 09:01 PM

I'm in no position to take my car out on track as its still looking more like a childs climbing frame than a car. Can I come along just to watch?

Also if anyone is generous enough to take me for a spin around the pits it'd make my day as I've never even seen an Indy move before, let alone been a passenger in one.

PAUL FISHER - 16/3/08 at 10:44 PM

Everyone welcome, there will be lots of MK's there to take you for a spin around the track,MK sportscars will have there supercharged GSXR 1000 there,it will be worth the trip for a few flying passenger laps in that

Mark G - 27/3/08 at 08:10 PM

Good news,

I've managed to get the day off work and the car passed its MOT today so I should be able to come up on Sat.

Can't wait.

Mark G - 27/3/08 at 09:05 PM

Does anyone know the post code.

All I can find is Bruntingthorpe proving grounds @ LE17 5QS, Is this the same place?

Guinness - 27/3/08 at 09:25 PM

Yup, well that's where I'm heading anyway!

Spoke to MK this morning, booked a B&B this afternoon, packed my kit box this evening, just about to programme the sat nav!

Cheers

Mike

PAUL FISHER - 30/3/08 at 10:13 PM

What a great day, although it could have been a bit warmer, and a bit less windy, and did I mention the rain,a realy good atmosphere though, nice meeting everyone, looking forward to the next one, which I am told will be a full day on track, although I could do with a bit more practice on the autotrail course if I am to beat the time set by the "Windmills" Tim & Tom and there boat anchor Zetec, although we did have Tony "mkblade" in his fireblade powered car who beat them to set the fastest time of the day, showing the BEC is the way to go
I have a bit of video footage I will try to load up later
