Hi guys,

I have been searching the web trying to find some info on a problem I had yesterday with my clutch but no luck


The clutch pedal got stuck down at a roundabout after driving the car quite hard, after a taps the pedal came back but I've now got a whoring / whining noise when pulling away

I'm going to remove the clutch tonight to see what it looks like but the clutch doesn't slip and it did get me home ok

Has anyone experienced this problem before or know what it might be?

The clutch is about 4 years old with two diaphragm springs

I reckon you have over thrown the clutch, this can happen because there is normally no physical way of stopping this in bike engine car conversions and is often over looked.

Yeah pretty sure you can make the spring go inside out if you have too much leverage on it.

Have you got a pedal stop fitted?

Sounds like it must have just got to the tipping point of flipping inside out. If it had gone further it wouldn't have come back on it's own and would have required a strip down. Probably needs a pedal stop adjusting (or fitting). Alternative (given the noise) could be a problem starting with the release bearing.

I haven't got a peddle stop at the moment but ill get working on fitting one asap

I have got a spare cover so if the noise continues ill try swapping that it over

I've had a thought this morning, do you think I've made the diaphragm springs weak by over throwing them for so long?

That's alright then, hopefully they should be ok
