You can't have an IP address with 333 as one of the numbers as the biggest number you can have is 255
If I have an IP address, for example 11.222.333.44 does anyone know which set of numbers identifies the ISP?

They are issued in batches ---- the numbers themselves don't have significance.
To find out the ISP holding a particular number do a "Who is" IP look up search this will give details of the registrant.

Iirc those would be 255.0.0.1/2/3 and so on.
I may be thinking of something else though...
It's unlikely that you will get this information from your router but have a poke about in the web interface to see if there is a log of the
connections,
however your ISP might hold it. Whether they will release the information to you is another matter......
Unless your router has been off for long periods it is likely it will have retained its lease on the ip address it is currently using.
Also increasingly ISP are assigning static IP to broadband lines even if they don't tell the users as with everybody using routers whats the
point of trying to save pennies on blocks of IP addresses.
My router is turned off every night and remains off for about 19 hours. I don't generally keep a log of the IP addresses that my router is
assigned but I know it has changed since the last time I looked about a week ago.
Looks like I'll have to contact my ISP if I want the history/log......

It's 254 surely
We are talking about IP addresses for devices though - 255 is a broadcast address never assigned to devices.

It seems I'm not the only really picky person here
- 255 is perfectly valid. 10.44.3.255 is perfectly valid if your subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 for example. Only the first and last
addresses in a subnet are never assigned to devices not the first and last numbers in the range 0 to 255.

I've had a response from my ISP stating the following;
...we use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) method to assign the IP addresses to our customers which means that the IP addresses are
assigned randomly whenever a new connection is made to the internet.
Due to this fact, we are unable to provide you with the history of IP addresses assigned to you for the last 30 days
I suspect this isn't true. Surely they should know, or at least be able to find my IP history....... Are they trying to fob me off, or could it
be that they genuinely don't log the history?

Nah rubbishio! I bet if you'd be sharing some files illegally they'd have an excellent log of your IP and online activity.
It's loads of work and loads of logs for them to go through. If there was a legal reason to do it or money in it for them....

Heh doubt it 3 haven't come up with our contract yet we've only given them 28 days, 8 months ago
Also imagine how many times a router could change address in a day, and how many thousand they have running...
