Having lost out on the profits from the abandoned development plan, the landowner now seems to be actively promoting "The New Village
option" - http://www.newvillageoption.co.uk/ .
At first glance this looks pretty inocuous but click on the link on the left for "New Village Option" (the link embedded in the text
doesn't work) and you will go here: http://www.newvillageoption.co.uk/node/20 and see that the initiative builds houses right on the Curborough
site.
The New Village initiative is actively trying to persuade residents to lobby the council to include the new village in the councils own plans
http://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/bigplanningdebate.
This is a new threat and very real, if this goes ahead another affordable motorsport venue for real people will be lost forever. The really worrying
thing which I heard is that SDCC's lease prevents the Club from oposing this development, so it is up to us; the Club cannot act against the
landowner's interests! We have until the 28th to express a different view from the landowner, if you want to save this grassroots venue please
email developmentplans@lichfielddc.gov.uk
If it helps, you can use wording like this.
"Dear sir
I object to the inclusion in the Councils Development Plans of the "New Village Option" which concentrates development on the land south of
Wood End Lane. Such a development would cause the loss of a unique motorsport facility of community, regional and national importance.
I favour the Council's existing settlement hierarchy
Yours sincerely"
If you want to save Curborough and don't act now then, when it it is lost, there is only one person you can blame.....................
Done.
Also done
Done, this is very important so please do the same
Ed
Done also.
I competed regularly at Curborough and it holds very fond memories for me. It would be a tragic loss to motorsport if it were lost.
John
Me to! Also done.
Bump,
Come on chaps it really is important to do something. The letter has been written so a couple of seconds to copy and paste and it's done!
Done, even though I've never heard of the place.
When Top Gear shown that track where Nascar was first run I was outraged that a place with so much history is allowed to fall into that state of
disrepair. Now I'm thinking I've hit my rebellious teenage years (or grumpy old man years!)
bump up for more peeps to see
Quite a disappointing response. Even if there are not that many on here who compete in Sprints there are a good number who enjoy track days and the Curborough track days are excellent value.
done
I've put a link to this on the GT4DC and Retro Rides, put the word about and get some emails sent or we'll loose another venue!
